Well I hardly thought what I said was abusive.

On topic though, charts IMO still seem to show cold temps from Sunday onwards with snow. Does not look like heaps of snow, but should be light falls each day.

GFS shows Vic resorts in particular getting a little bit on saturday afternoon into the evening which would be nice little bonus!

Thats off the low that allows this change come through.
I think NSW will as well. Personally I think NSW will get more.

If the temps are low enough lets hope that Snowy Hydro will kick off the seeding of the pre frontal clouds. 2 out of 3 seeding events use the real thing... that is silver iodide, and the 3rd event only gets the tracer agent, Indium sesquioxide (I hope that's how you spell it)... Lets hope and pray this one gets the real thing... then it's up to the snow god to send the real, real thing... and plenty of it. I'm going for 2cm in exposed areas to 40cm drifts... and it'll be a powder day on Tuesday... if you don't mind hiking a tad. It's unlikely that there will be too much open till the mountain staff have a chance to groom and grind. Wind it up baby this is a season starter. EEHAAAA

No models are predicting much moisture for each day, but every day could add up... 5cms a day over a week and you have a reasonable base!!!

I was thinking that this morning when I was taking the kids to school. Definately feels like winter again, moisture on the ground and the air is definately crisper, and I'm not in the mountains!

Funny that. The other day when I was in Morwell it was nearly 20 degrees! At home (which is only 100m higher) it was 16. The hills are getting cold!

I'm going up to Baw Baw tomorrow and staying until Monday. This was pre-planned, so we were going to go anyway. The snow line is so borderline there it's not funny... the snow model on this site says snow on the Summit for Sunday, but rain in the village. Snow levels are 1500 metres... dammit!!!

Game On all the systems and forecast say snow it just depends now on how much moisture we get, and the stronger the westerlies the better it will be for the resorts to accumulate some of the windblown snow

Looks good to me for this time of the year. Snowmaking to be pumping 100% late next week too before another front hits (see other thread).

GFS seems to have upgraded moisture in this afternoons run. I see gree over the mountains on two consecutive days.

Meso-LAPS showing green for saturday and that is the most accurate output available.

EC has ramped up the thickness over the NT with a south fetch. Full on GFS style....interesting very interesting.

I reckon this will kick off in the wee hours of tommorrow morning... look at the moisture bad near the low in SA.

This mornings forecast had 1-5mm predicted from saturday onward. Tonight they have gone for 5-10mm on sunday. That's an upgrade if anything and they are also talking of "significant snowfall on the alps".

Don't worry about saturday. Just means things have slowed a little compared to forecast arrival of the action. Its all still looking good from saturday night onwards.

Yeah, i think saturday night always looked the goods in terms of the genuine start of this event and there's a definate upgrade in the moisture levels in the latest updates! It's a season starter alright, just a matter of how much we get! Hopefully 40cms+ by late next week when the new system hits!! Here we go!

BoM back up with the moisture, saying it will accumulate to over 15mm over the Alps over the next 4 days! Now that's what I like to see. GFS says up to 50mm over the next week. With the cold temps expected, that's great!

I suspect the low over Tassie is dropping a little too fast to provide any effect on Mountain weather(other than its contribution to lowering temps), but I'm optimistic about the Northwest flow.
