At this stage of the year a blocking high is perfect for me
Is this a ski forum or a fishing forum ?
BOM is back on for a wandering cold pool.
I predict that the next event Tuesday / Wednesday will be an epic spring pow event like last week. Last week was a min. 30 cm at 7000 ft at RAM's head as observed last Saturday.
Wandering cold pools means GFS and EC have gone off it but its gonna come back online. Just got the right shape and I like this HIGH Thursday to Sunday. It will draw in the next front as it moves away into the Pacific.
Dude you are a believer!
The little winter that could.
powder dreams I say ..... winter will not re-vist AU but it has in NZ. We had snow down to 200M today
Backcountry skiing forum
High pressure ftw this time of year.
Looking like another Tasman /ECL .....
Interesting winter. Late and then some awesome, fairly good top ups but the uncharacteristic cold temps kept it real. Snow depth okish but season goodness maintained by a lack of pineapples
Season goodness flowing away far to early. Still better than the BOM outlook though.
Stay on topic.
A long way out but, 15th -22nd possible on and off snow above 1800m on Main Range and big 2 NSW. Will have some loss below 1800m but then it is spring.
WTF - BOM and Norway have swapped positions on this week's forecasts. Total dogs breakfast on the outlooks.
Meanwhile, today was simply stellar at Perisher above 1900 metres. Snow on Eyre was sensational - main range would have been incredible. Next week is anyone's guess at this point.
Could be a bit stormy in central and north parts tomorrow
Looks like a little bit of rain, Monday night into Tuesday. Mainly in VIC, but a bit in NSW. Maybe some wet snow on the tail end.
Then a week of blocking high. Staying dry but cooling.
Probably not a bad result for September.
Bulk of the rain is sliding south and hitting Melbourne. Missing the resorts. A good thing IMO.
Rest of the week is looking much cooler, fine by me
Could see a rumble on the change line this arvo in Melb.
Hope we can sneak a few decent spring storms this season.
So for 134m the snow was stellar?!! Below that was it all glue? They are some short runs bud!
29C forecast for Sydney tomorrow
they ain't called bunny hills for no reason. but the glue like snow was ok with a good wax - so that gets you the full 228 metres at Eyre.
Jane is calling snow for Monday- Tuesday! Any experts care to comment? Maybe the season is not quite over.
I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. But I see wet. The cold air is too far South. Sorry.
^^ agreed unfortunately
Discussed in the Epic Weather Thread.
Definite possibility. At least high.
Um what ? ........... 500's warm. 700's warm. 850's warm. Cold pool 1000km South.
Much better on EC.
AXS doesn't like it, you're right.
Yeah I know. GFS likes it too. Let's keep an eye on it. CC do you want it discussed elsewhere?
Keep it in the "epic" thread for now. If it looks good tomorrow we'll create a thread for it.
Dammit need WZ Pro , might have to cough up the $6 ......
People are still caring about snow systems?
Well if you cared about skiing this time of year, you'd be wanting highs over us, not crappy frontal systems that drop some rain and a splattering of snow at the end, before warming back up again.
With the unpredictable season we have had, waiting for the September suprise
If theres any precip dont wanna be plaing in it unless its cold.
EC shows temps of around -5...
freezing level of 1100
NSW BOM has snow , around 15-20cm with a maximum of zero
