Near incident at Hotham today. Been seeing too many cases recently, with a rouge ski (possibly broken brake), and more so, flying boards.

Guy well out of his depth at Hotham / Heavenly Valley / Race Gully today doing the board off and walk down trick.

Evidently did not think to hold the board when ripping that binding off. Lucky went just wide of the little guy with his father at the bottom of the run.

Hotham staff collected the board half way down Slalom Gully, and thankfully did not collect anybody. Not always the case, and broken ankles can happen.

That is a rouge snowboard that has gone rogue.

This is why I've got a leash for my step on boots - not so much for on the runs, but as a just-in-case measure for the lift ride. I'd hate to have someone accidentally flick the release lever and see my board drop from my foot.
