I use my amex for 70-80% of my purchases without fees. Even our woolies groceries are on amex, and linked to a woolies reward, we are earning at least 35,000 points a year from groceries
Typically* pricing for one way fares are 75% of the complete return trip. So, 2 x one way fares would typically be 125% of the normal price. 75% one way, and around 50% for the return, not counting the conversion to AUD costs. *Not counting sales or special deals.
Classic reward points don’t change. A little tip for booking one way back to Australia, if you do it on the phone rather than the website, you’ll be charged in AUD rather than forex.
Re AmEx, you can even use it in the bus! And this month there is a promo and you get reimbursed 40% I think it is.
Definitely not the case. Majority of airlines are still structured complex fares sold via the GDS. Point to point 'per leg fares' is still very much the domain of the LCC.
I don't have an Amex any more, but used to manage about 80-90% of use on that, with a little needing a MC/Visa, however a lot of places did charge a higher surcharge. What's the difference now that the surcharge is regulated? From memory Amex closer to 2% where MC/Visa are 1.something
no surcharge on the bus (or trains) none for the supermarket. (and/or the vouchers i am buying 5% off) and for work stuff IDGAF ()
This is not my work AmEx. I only have this for the offers (my work one doesn’t get offers). This is a fee free AmEx credit card (that gets qantas points but no sign on bonus) With a low limit. (My choice) Yes my last balance was under $30!
yrp You should, the best is when Dimmi (now the fork) has spend $50 get $20 back on AmEx. I used to make them spilt it and ya would pay for half and I would pay half and we would both get $20 back. Winning We did the same for Harris farm supermarkets
Anyone getting easy QFF points with Woolworths? I only joined WW Reward in November and get 1000 QFF whenever I hit 2000 WWR points. Its not the fact I spend $2000 its more the weekly offers they send out that make it easy to achieve. In 2 full months I have earned 7000 QFF points, I can guarantee I have not spent $14,000 at WW or BWS or WW Petrol. Been reading this thread and I think I'll start the CC churn that a few of you do too!!
Mrs cqen2l plays them pretty well. She has mine and her cards stored on her phone. She shops most days and will use my card 3-4 consecutive times. Sensing no activity on her card Woolworths start sending her emails offering generous bonus points for varying spend levels. Swaps back using her card and after few days they send me offers. Same happens at BWS.
And right on cue Woolworths just sent me an offer of 100 points if I buy 2lts of Dairy Farmers milk. They clearly track your buying habits. Wifey would have 3 cappuccinos a day but stopped about 2 weeks ago. We haven't purchased milk in that period. Sneaky buggers.
we’ve been doing woolies rewards for a few years. We spend around $20k a year on groceries, plus the offers gives enough QFF points for a free Perth to Canberra each year
I got some awesome fly buys offers at Christmas. A few Christmas party alcohol purchases means I have $200 in flybuys dollars! So not shopping at woolies of late but good to know thy upped their game!
Yeh I've never been a Supermarket rewards chaser as it never was super worthwhile, but the reshape of the WW Rewards has made it worth the time with QFF pretty easily accumulated. As a family we'd float between Coles and WW but now we only go to WW so they'd be happy that the rewards program worked to convert us I guess....
I don't actually think they are always that smart. I just got that offer as well, and I have bought 4l of milk this week
That's what I assumed, perhaps Dairy Farmers are conjured by Woolworths to offer the points on their behalf. I wouldn't be surprised. Woolworths have unscrupulous procurement system in operation. Pricks.
If there is a particular product you buy regularly, stop buying and after a few visits you'll start getting special offers. Algorithms, creepy.
its can be this companies do pay for the points (so it doesn't cost woolies to offer a specific brand for bonus points) and likely what happened above not the lack of milk buying. But the algorithms play a part too. they do track your spending and offer according for general spend.
So Qantas offering double status points today - 3 weeks after we booked and paid for return business class tickets to Europe. Not happy Jan.
With JAL bring back first class from Sydney to Tokyo we decided to cash in our QFF points for our 2021 trip. Was going to use them to go to Canada this year but we couldn’t get a rewards business class seats direct to Vancouver sadly.
Also one trip is not going to help you go up a level. So check it later worth it before you cancel/rebook.
