Qantas WestJet sign codeshare agreement

Qantas and WestJet have just announced a codeshare agreement for flights from Honolulu and Los Angeles to Canadian cities and domestic flights within Canada. This means that Qantas passengers will be able to connect to WestJet flights (HNL-YVR) (LA to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton) and have baggage checked through. A number of Canadian domestic flights (eg Vancouver-Toronto, Calgary-Montreal) will also carry Qantas codeshare flight numbers. If Qantas Frequent Flyers book the QF codeshare they will earn points and status credits.

Given that Air Canada has 'Rougeified' their Vancouver and Calgary to LA services (Rouge being Jetstar with slightly better uniforms) I think the WestJet option will be quite attractive for many people.

No, the existing AA and Alaskan codeshares are being retained. The map in the Australian Business Traveller article shows both the AA/Alaskan and WestJet codeshares are available for LAX-YVR flights.

Looks like Qantas is testing the water for a return to Vancouver, with direct SYD-YVR flights twice weekly in January 2015.

Interesting that there is no code share flight from Dallas/Fort Worth to any east coast cities. I thought that was the logic for dropping SFO and adding DFW. Although American will go all over the [place.
