An MCG member is not quite as big a wanchor as the MCC members.

Who pays $675 per year cover charge for a bar?

People seriously pay for Qclub? But it's better out in the main hall these days, with the possible exception of the first lounge at Sydney (but you can never get a seat there anyway).

Qclub sucks arse these days. Far better meals, service, and drinks out in the main hall.

Do you mind if I borrow this and send it to my wife? She loves her qclub....I'd rather watch the comings and goings out in the main hall.

No, but they might have moved flight paths.
Anyway, sorry you're all too delicate to have a plane fly over your house. :p

I love the sheer arrogance of those inner-city Sydney people in that they want the convenience of an airport in the city, but not the noise associated with...get this...jet engines. Wowie. It's the same as when people from the inner city, or Woollongong, or northern beaches try to tell you how people in the west live their lives. FFS, i've spent more time in Sydney's west than they have.

I guess they want the convenience, without the noise.... all through the night. It's hardly just the inner city in Sydney.

I'd love the AP to be 24/7 - it'd be awesome for me. But I just can't see the change happening given the ownership/politics of Kingsford-Smith and it's issues.

Amazingly Sydney has around 30% more movements than Melbourne, around 100,000 extra. Am surprised the difference is so large.

No, but especially in politics, perception = reality.

It is also conversation stopping from Hunters Hill inwards, and same on the other paths.

No probs with the plane noise. Just not during the middle of the night.

It’s easy to not understand how loud these things are when the only residents who are in the flight path are cows.

I'd suggest it's in the low 6 figures of residences affected. I have stayed at friends places in Erskineville and Haberfield, and as a light sleeper, I'd want my windows double glazed. Neither had, and it's definitely loud enough to know when someone is breaking the curfew.

I can watch the planes from my house with the very very occasional direct overhead. The main flight path is to the north but there is a big park I take BWD to at Hunters Hill and it's a procession of planes and noise.

I live within cooeee of Campbell Barracks - SAS - middle of the night Black Hawks. I swear they’re landing on my roof at times. It’s part of life in the city. You want to hear the crickets at night, then off to the remote wilderness with you.

I love the sheer arrogance of those people who live somewhere else assuming they know what inner city livers want. To be honest I doubt if the inner city dwellers want quite that much convenience wrt the airport. Perhaps you should actually look at some of the history of this and ask why a 3rd runway was built rather than another airport at Badgerys Creek.

I lived at Stanmore when the decision to build the 3rd runway was made. Our house was directly under the flight path at times. We received no compensation, no sound proofing etc. When we bought there were no plans to build a 3rd runway. I studied the environmental impact report as my project in my environmental engineering subject. Reality bore no relationship to that report. I still have it on the bookshelf if you want it. Anyway we went from being able to hold a conversation outside to not being able to. We went from being able to hang our washing outside to not being able to unless we wanted the added bonus of the kerosene perfume. etc etc etc. And btw we did not winge as it was pointless. For various financial and political reasons it was going to happen and there was nothing we could do about it. So don't tell me about the arrogance of inner west Sydney people being peeved about the noise because you don't live there and you don't know what you are talking about.

I just assumed this whole thread was troll time. I'm enjoying it for that.

Although I get that it's hard to tell with the Melbourne folks, as the difference between their trolling and their actual opinion is very hard to spot.(resists urge to put in an emoji to prove that this is all in jest, but instead writes this ridiculous sentence that explains the same, in a much more wasteful manner).
