mmm deep breathe, raise the tolerance level to the usual , practice saying yes dear mindlessly to MIL, said 3 times already whilst writing this, give DH a valium or such so he does not actually write the email to his sister that he will regret writing and stops grumping at me and then maybe I might have time and head space to re-find that sense of humour I actually have. Add in the mad panic to get stuff happening for the Sydney Snow Expo on Sunday when I only found out on Friday that I am going to it. At the moment I don't even have business cards.

And oh, stop reading anything on here that will wind me up.

I live under the CBR-MEL flight path. I think it's cool. The noise is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

it can still be noisy....we're under a flight path and if our previous dog had a bone and a plane flew over, look out! Dog would bark madly at plane 2km above our heads.....stoopid dog, plane doesn't want your bone.

The flight path over our back yard in Port ADL is for the local Port Lincoln, Whyalla and FIFO mine sights. Generally points North of ADL. So they are turbine twins crossing at I think 700M or so ( bout right @piolet ?). I really only notice them in the arvo and it reminds me it must be getting close to beeroclock.

The noisiest is the dyingfloctor in their little pilati, and the Sunday skydivers with their crappy constant speed prop whining away.

I used to live right under the flight path for the into the West landing pattern for the heavies where the wake turbulance would send the garden into a trashign mess. That was bloody noisey and I woudl not live there again. After we moved out there was a guvment program to install noise insulation. I was glad of the curfew.

Errrrr. You weren't meant to notice that! ROFL
Not quite. About 72.5 km as the crow flies. But often the planes are quite low - I sometimes wonder whether they're going to hit the nearby hill (Mt St Leonard at 1027m asl), but they seem to miss it. (I'm at 330m asl)

That's alright I'll pay more attention to the altitude readout on flightradar, not that is not clocking down at a good clip by then.

If the routing is consistent they're probably following a standard departure.
I get turboprops (farken dibloc) over ours too, about the same height. Only traffic we get so it's not too bad

No departure, only arrivals when they need to land on 23 which they do from a right hand circuit, we are at the start of start of downwind in the circuit planning.

They cross the coast near Port Adl/Largs Pier then track right base for runway 23, follow Port Rd then turn right to final over my place.

The loud ones are the GAM Aerocommanders (i.e. the ones I used to fly there) and they will arrive like clockwork 7pm Mon to thurs and 8pm Fri on the bank runs.

The turboprops are the Flying Doc PC12, Alliance Fokker 50, Rex Saabs and Air South/Rossair Beech 1900s and Cessna Conquests. GAM has an Aerocommander 690 too that may fly that visual approach.

If it’s not dark then ATC will get them down as low as 1000’ just to shit you. ;)

Not an issue for me, refer my psoting in the flying thread.

I keep dreaming that one these will barrel roll or loop on the way thru as per Hoover.

I’ve stood in a mate’s street in Mile End when the Emirates 777 lands and the vortices tear the trees up.

Best plane accoms I’ve hadn’t in Sydney were Camperdown and Erskineville. Close enough on approach that you can see and get a little of the noise if out on the balcony but far enough away that I could go inside and not be bothered.

Worst were Five Dock and southern side of Newtown toward Marrickville metro. Straight overhead and overwhelming noise. Five Dock moreso as the flights in the last 2 hours before curfew were so regular.

Have since then basically blocked out the approaches when finding places to live

The house I lived in whilst in Syd a couple of years ago was near the station in Marrickville. The noise was full on. The Banh Mi made up for it though.
