https://www.ausbt.com.au/how-the-qa...red-article&itm_medium=hero&itm_campaign=news Some good and bad here as expected. Increased reward seat availability/reduced fees is great, but points to be devalued.
Pros and Cons as expected. As long as I can still use my points to buy a toaster and/or hairdryer, Im happy.
I still fly a number of airlines (depending on what deals can be got) but I accumulate QFF points on credit cards. I see them solely as something for nothing and almost exclusively use them on upgrades. By the sounds of it the something for nothing I get has been devalued - if that is at all possible
Haven't read the specific article that linked to yet. But where/how are the devalued? Yes they have upped the Domestic points required (which where never increased for a long time) but International economy redemption's have decreased. If your bank rewards have devalued thats not Qantas' fault.
Seems Qantas realised people have woken up to the fact that using points in PE or Business is better value than down the back so have upped the points price for premium classes but not Economy (altho did I see they raised the cash price component?). Might be time to just use the points buying wine. That's what I used to do with Flybuys until they suddenly doubled the points price of wine.
I'll give you a tip, it's not for nothing, it's built into the price of your airfare. That said if you don't use it you are effectively paying more for your flights.
Except you know possibly get lounge passes etc for all those points you accuse through cc... But yeah they have devalued...
SQ just got my vote for SYD-SIN-ZRH followed by MUC-SIN-SYD in January / February...... saying bye bye to just earned QF Gold ...... but if you want to go to Europe, WTF fly over it and land in London........
+1 just did same on our next sojourn in Sep. I don’t think she knows this news so will be happy with timing.
15 hours in an A380....did it once before.... Emirates can EAD...... And $6k saved flying PE over business is going into upgraded Val Gardena accommodation
I like QF points. Just did our second Emirates 1st class to NYC via Dubai. Done SYD-LAX Q first a few times plus countless business flights. Start searching 11 months out but be flexible with departure and return dates. Will happily, sort of, shell out more points for better classes if there are more available.
This is a good summary. https://www.smh.com.au/business/com...yer-changes-mean-for-you-20190620-p51znn.html
