I'm sure they can adjust it per state a 100mms dump in Tassie is life threatening but typical in the NT.

Nice big band of showery rain heading towards the metro again.
Looks like a wet afternoon coming up, after a generally dry-ish, (bit of drizzle) day.

Here’s another view of the 24 hour rainfall to 9:00 for the State:

Falls around Sydney have been modest since then, about 5 mm. The system is now hitting the South Coast, with the heaviest falls since 9:00 being around Jervis Bay and its hinterland. Many sites in that area have received over 50 Mm, with 98 mm since 9:00 at Island Point Road.

Not looking good for St Georges Basin. It's mean to be low tide now but the flood waters have barely receded.

Judging by the satellite picture just now, the low seems to be nearly stationary about 150 km off Sydney.

In my neck of the woods, Chatswood has an event total to date of 101 mm so far. It’s been light showers and thick drizzle on and off all day, grey and gloomy, not a glimpse of sky or sun.

Looking ahead, EC, GFS and Access are agreed that something happens in 8-10 days’ time, although details differ. All agree on a cold spell, with the blue line North of Sydney.
    * EC has an inland low and rain event.
    * Access has a low in the Tasman and long-fetch Southerlies for NSW
    * GFS has the low near Tasmania with a traditional cold outbreak from the SW.

Haven't seen this much water lying around Jindy North Shore since 2016

Rained all day at Thredbo, "snow" above halfway between Kareela and Black Sallees

I'd much rather the GFS event imo, we've lacked Cold Fronts this year and alpine areas have really struggled because of this. Barely been windy at all this year.

I expected more rain or showers tonight, but not this wild outburst.
12.3 degrees. Howling gale. Massive down pour. Feeling quite the chill outside.

Yeah should be some good inflows out of this. River starting to kick at present. If we get another fall like this soon it could fill in a week. Most of the recent rain is still falling west of the catchments. Good for the cropping belt but not good for water storgaes. Most are still very low.

Story you posted is a bit of a beat up. Truth was we had about 3 months of water restrictions from October 2019 that were tough on gardens. Stupid thing was they were not necessary. SHould have been lifted back in feb when the dam got back up to 10% (that is heaps of water for town supply). Can't believe they have only just been lifted. But truth is we haven't needed to water anything since february with good regular top ups and cooler conditions.

My lawn survived but its damaged and i'm hoping it doesn't take me long to get it good again come spring. Will kick off again in about 5 weeks.

Off topic. But it's amazing how much the construction of your abode contributes to how you experience weather.

Exposed weatherboard, tin roof. Near coast.

Torrential rain in Coogee at the moment. My rain gauge just ticked over 60mm before midnight, after 90mm yesterday, 150mm across the two days. Very wet and miserable couple of days along the Sydney coast.

Heavy showers continued on and off during the night. It’s starting to brighten up a bit now.

Around Sydney, the rain has focused on the Eastern and Northern suburbs, with lighter falls Westwards. Sydney OH has received 46 mm since 9:00 yesterday, one of the heaviest falls in the Sydney region.

Further afield, the focus has again been around Jervis Bay, with many falls over 100 mm, some over 150. The low seems to have hovered off Sydney all night, maybe drifting a little to the ESE. The following is from the visible satellite view a little while ago. The system seems to have a distinct eye.

It's hardly filled at all having only risen to 25% or about 325 GL Yes plenty of water for town use but this storage is for irrigators. Nowhere near 130 % and spilling as in Sept 2016. And then 3 years of Decile 1 or lowest on record rain shrank it to 1.5%

Better than you thought with 1 GL/day inflow from 27th and rising with all this rain events runoff to come. So 10% jump this week and more next. Forded the Dixons Long Point crossing on Macquarie R. last Sunday week. It's a little deeper today having risen 2 m and in need of that $20 million bridge LOL.... W

The Sun’s out here for the first time in three days. It does look like the event is substantially over. The following could serve as a summary of the event - rainfall in the week to 9:00. It misses out on anything that’s fallen since, but totals are modest, mostly under 10 mm.

Event total for Sydney OH: 130 mm (includes 3 mm since 9:00)
    Chatswood: 135 mm.

It wouldn't have any effect on Snowy Hydro. Anything below Jindabyne Dam is lost to them, the snowy doesn't even flow between Island Bend and Jindabyne, and they didn't get that much rain above Island Bend. That warning was for the lower Snowy.
