It's actually raining in Melbourne and has been for 2 hours. Who tipped this? Not even BOM this morning!

Should build a dam there to catch all this water. Oh what a pain...I can't mow the lawn now that it's all wet.

I hope there is more rain to go tonight. I wonder if it is going to be cold enough for a light dusting of snow tonight? Now that would be nice, but rain or snow, anything would do for now! [IMG]

    Very surprising!
nearly 10mm in Heidelberg, I thought there would only be a mm or two...

Seems to have been a better in feed than the models progged, with the cloud band that was sitting over WA/SA linking up with the front...

Even the most generous of models was only going for 1-2mm but that just goes to show you can not trust the models alone!

Current melbourne sounding has the freeze level at ~2500 m, the tassie one is a bit lower, so a slight chance of sleet but no snow unless the airmass cools

more 'suprises' like this would be good. i was going for less than 5mm max, so nearly double that is a good result. everything in melb should green up a touch now, but still need 28th to pull through.

I see there's a separate thread concerning the 28th with some very hopeful signs. Let's hope that optimism is justified.
