    Snowing very nicely at Hotham.

Woke to probably another 3/4cm at DP, so take your best guess for Hotham, but I suppose double that up higher.

Got up here before 8 and rode first tracks down Heavenly. There was a mad dash for the lift when it opened and I guess I was on about the 5th or so lift up. Fresh tracks straight down the middle of the runs. Have just come in after riding freshies all over Heavenly....main areas are starting to get tracked so I will just have to go looking when I head back out soon.

A lot of fun and should be really good if it keeps snowing.

Haha no pics from me, I have taken a few from DP this morn, but there was no time for pics this morning when there was the dash for freshies.

I observe the Mountainwatch cams for Perisher are showing it's snowing at Blue Cow. It looks like it's only light, but it's a good sign.

Hmmmm, that's even odder, no sooner did I post than the pic was deleted!

the snow swirls around in there something shocking

Pretty much done for me at Hotham today.

Until they get more stuff open, everything gets tracked into moguls within a couple of hours. Hiked up to the top of Gotcha chair and had some nice lines, but more snow needed to fill in down the bottom of it.

Really fun morning, but the masses have taken over now.

The snow is still coming down hard!

Yep I'd agree with that, just the wind for sure IMO. Check the Thredbo valley cams where it is usually fairly sheltered from wind down near the village, lots of snowing holding on to the trees there cause its not getting blown off.

The wind at Falls is horrendous and now Falls express has gone on to wind hold along with Eagle and Towers. Still snowing lots with some flakes the size of 20 cent coins. All good for the next couple of days I would say. [IMG]

Having had a look at the radar and the perisher & thredbo cams, it's looking seriously dark down there. Must be chucking it down.

stopped snowing at Buller about 2 hours ago now. Cloud in and out, super windy causing a few lift issues as well. Good quality snowfall though. Anymore on the way for us Donza?

Well I tell you, there's nothing on the radar but its been snowing non stop at Falls for the past 2 hours.

I believe its due to the high winds helping the lift effect, its just one storm continually brewing above!

Well obviously. Point is - none of this snow is coming from any associated band or front (as there is nothing on the radar (including away from mountains)), so its all coming from developing cells over the mountains. Goes to show wind plays a big part even if pressure is not so good.

Rain coming down a bit harder now in Jindy and the mountains are starting vanish in cloud and moisture as the wind picks up again. Still hovering around 3-4c here.

Thredbo just upgraded their site status from snow to 'Blizzard!'
And the cams back it up, you can hardly see a thing on them now!

Choc how is it up there? 60cm or more now?

What is interesting, is that on a SSE wind, the precip travels up the gap over Omeo, and hits Hotham and Falls with exactly the right lift. If it's closer to the south instead of SSE or SE, a lot of the precip is dropped before it gets to Hotham/Falls.

It's hard to say, but probably around that, maybe a tad more. Probably 5-10 in the village today, 15 up high, but it's loading weird under the southerly winds. Still puking.

Is that your prognosis for today's snowfall amounts since this morning? with the S wind I would tend to think that some of the lower lifts would be good, like around Snowgums and through the trees would be nice n sheltered.

THredbo mountainwatch cam is a thing of beauty when it's in focus - fat flakes, constant, and heavy. Has been like that all afternoon. I am observing a compelling need to get in the car and avoid tomorrow's meetings in Syd.....
