After years of hushed whispers by nzski staff and Queenstown locals, NZSki have publicly announced (the first stage of?) future development plans. Curvey basin is the basin that rises towards the saddle directly above the top of Alta chair. Currently easily accessible, sunny slack country. This will open up some great terrain (and improve backcountry access immensely..!). Good on 'em, there is lots of scope up there, and I would suspect that this might be the first piece in the puzzle for expansion into the south facing basins over the ridge...

Any new lifts is always good news, but WHEN are they going to go over the hill to the south basin ?

That has been talked about from the word go , even that the only reason that the ski area was not built there originally, was that it would have been a longer drive from Queenstown.
