Following on from the meetings about Village Transport & Access, there is a visitor survey to get public input. It is pretty quick to fill out and includes questions about snow on roads, ski in/ski out, oversnow, getting around the village.

It closes on Sunday 21st at 5pm, so get cracking if you want to have your say.

The survey is at here , or via the falls web site

Done. It feels good that "the powers that be" might actually take notice of ordinary punters like us! [IMG]

Done... bit confused about the ski in/ski out question. How far from your door do you consider ski in/ski out? I would have thought only a few meters...

    Same, that's why I chose 0 - 25 metres.

Just filled it out too. And I agree I think walking anything greater than 25m and it no longer becomes ski in / ski out. And to say it is would just be lying.

hmmm - and here I was thinking that distance doesn't determine ski in / ski out. I thought the ability to ski to and from your door determined whether or not you can ski in / ski out.......

I was a bit surprised by that one too. But maybe it's a good question. At the meeting there were some who thought that visitors wouldn't mind walking a bit. The question may be designed to test that hypothesis.

Oh well, I told them I wouldn't be coming back if I couldn't get accom where I could ski to and from a few meters of the door. I guess if they clear the roads there would still be some places that would retain ski in/out, but not as many.

Having spent a few days in FC last week, I can agree in part to some of the arguments for clearing the road but it would only apply to very late in the season ie when there is more road than snow (slush) and only on those roads used by the shuttle ie not all roads - eg parallel street still had 30 cm of snow on it compared to other areas near halleys chair being virtually bare.

At this late stage in the season it is no longer practical to ski along the roads if you value your skis.

Having said that, what controls would be in place to stop the random clearing of roads especially in peak season?

I value the ski-in/ski-out qualities enjoyed by all lodges at FC, the loss of this amenity would cause me to reconsider my skiing options.

I made my point clear. Coming from NSW I only frequent Falls Creek for its atmosphere and ski in/ski out. I have never had a problem with oversnow; it's all part of the experience as far as i'm concerned.
