SkiJapan.com has teamed up with an Australian Snowsports Direct who has been selected to operate an International Ski School at the Lotte Arai Resort that's re-opening mid-December.

Tom Langtry is very excited with the reopening of Lotte Aria Resort (previously known as Arai Mountain Resort and Spa) after it was closed for more than 11 years. It is very close to his Snowsports School at Myoko Kogen where he employs instructors from about seven or eight different countries.

An extension of the main train route from Tokyo via Nagano is another plus for Australian skiers and snowboarders seeking an alternative to the popular snow resorts on the main island of Honshu. The Joetsu-Myoko Station is about a 15 minute Free shuttle to the Lotto Arai Resort.

Another addition to the resort’s attributes, apart from the refurbishment of its well-located hotels, is an expansion of non-groomed inbound terrain that offers superb opportunities to schuss untracked powder Japan is so famous for.

Its proximity to the coast ensures an abundance of fresh powder during the winter season—perhaps even more so than Myoko Kogen which is further inland. For whatever reason this resort closed back in 2006 it wasn’t a lack of snow.

SkiJapan.com is offering packages at The Arai (149 rooms) and The Lodge (108 rooms) two key properties at Lotte Arai Resort that is aiming to become "Asia's best ski resort".

And all for only the small price of a house deposit. That is unless they've dropped the ridiculously high opening prices

Plus if people knew what was what on these forums, they would know that it's been covered in
    "The big Myoko/Madarao/Arai thread - 2017/18" thead

But that wouldn't be his style. It is always been just press releases for skijapan in new threads.
    Ignore.

It's a bit unfortunate that Skipress doesn't contribute to the forums as he is a pioneer in in the industry being the founder of probably the first ski mag in Australia .

The involvement of Tom Langtry is the key element of my release

Just to clarify my intention.Tom Langtry (from Falls Creek and Myoko Kogen) has an additional gig by acquiring the status of International Snow School operator.

Ok, so perhaps the intention would have been a little clearer, had the title been something more like "Falls Creek connection to reopening of Arai resort"

It's actually already well known that MSS are running the English snowsports school there. I listed it here months ago.

And you know what too? It seems like you're actually paraphrasing content off my website. Not appreciated. At least I can spell 'Lotte' and 'Arai' correctly.

Do you honestly think that the knowledgeable Japan ski community in here actually finds your fluff useful or interesting? You'd cop a lot less flak and get some kudos if you actually tried to engage here skipress. Otherwise you're just like the election vans in Japan. You come around every now and then with what you think is an important message but everybody else is just pissed off with the shouting. Especially when it's plagiarised.

Actually if you were driving around Japan with a megaphone shouting "We are wankers!" that would be interesting (subtle reference to recent post elsewhere here...).

I'm almost moved to tears MG.
Crikey, I've always thought the announcement was "Most welcome again to Japan, esteemed Warmlet-san ", but then my Japanese is appalling.
Lots of voyeurs going to be titillated by this reopening of Arai for sure.
Not something you see every day. I'm sure none of us give a hoot about the snow school.

Someone who has spent many years in the Canadian Rockies in charge of Avi safety has been recruited. His name was mentioned in a press release months ago.

I care about the snow school. I’ve already been in touch to see is we can mix days at myoko and Arai (which is a yes but no). Helpful if you have kids in school.

Question for the Honshu gurus : presumably a day trip to Arai from Nozowa for those without a hire car is out of the question in winter 2018? (I.e no bus / mini bus options as there are for Myoko Kogen)

Not impossible if you get going early. Bus/taxi to Iiyama Station, shinkansen to JoetsuMyoko Station, taxi/shuttle to Arai.

Hope he has access to enough bomb which is a real issue here, anyways great to see someone has been engaged that appears to have the right skillsets. We are getting excited to try and get over there early this season and check it out. Once we do will post a TR.

    Hi ski.comers
Where to look for the bus to Lotte Aria's timetable from Joetsu-Myoko Station?
I thought that I may stay near the station for a few days and ski Lotte Aria.
    Having bused from Myoko previously....
