Currently the season is due to finish on the 6th of October. So, NO, he could not ride up Mt Buller before then. Having said that, with the ever decreasing snow they may pull the pin earlier this year.

    This is his advice
Despite the fact that he rode up the day before with snow on the road.

I have seen a lot of posts about ridding in the snow particuarly with hells 500 & climbing cyclist, Yeah it sounds impresive but I reckon it'd be really dangerous riding on snow and ice with 23mm tyres. I've ridden buller in summer, its a gem, a great ride but I reckon It'd be way safer and responsible to do it on a day without snow/black ice on the road. Wouldn't be keen descending it one bit.

Get the right day and it'd be fine.

Someone rode up Hotham last July.

This reminds me of a very inspiring guy who on youtube is known as co2friendly. He is a back country skier who I think lived in albury or somewhere similar. He rode his bike from his house to BC mountains like Bogong, feathertop, mt wills and so on with his skis and camping gear with a little one wheel trailer. He did have a pretty suitable bike though, a touring bike with the right tyres. I like his moto co2friendly though and how he always rides to the snow instread of driving, very relevant in to a world and ski fields concered about... well I won't mention that word here. check out his videos if you have a chance there very interesting. Right now he's been doing a long tour around outback Australia, he chose a good year to miss the ski season I guess...

Much respect to blokes who ride up, it's not an easy ride. When I was up there a lot in the early 2000's I used to see Simon Gerrans every once in a while.

If they are going to do it in summer they should consider going on one of the hells 500/climbing cyclist domestique rides. I did one last year at buller, It was really good. They usally get about 50-80 people doing it.
