Road to Charlottes

When does the road to Charlottes Pass usually open to vehicular traffic these days ? It used to open in early October or as soon as the road to Charlottes was clear of snow.
Is there still car access to the top of the pass at Charlottes in the spring ? Is overnight parking permitted there ?

Depends how early you get up there. Some days you have to park all the way down near the village entry.

The forecast for this year would be the road will be cleared for CPs use but will not be open until after the long weekend. There is so much snow the car park may remain covered for a couple of weeks after the long weekend and in the past Parks have held off opening the road until the car park was clear.

So plan on the road being open but have a back up plan.

Parks do not open the road - it is an RTA road and they do the opening and closing.

And I must say I reckon the roads are better since the RTA took over.

ok my mistake, same thing happens, ref 2005 which was a RTA year.
