Have traveled that road in similar conditions and been held up while the RFS clear some trees across the road.... but nothing like that.. Must have been a lot of rain before hand to really soften the ground for trees to fall like that.
Saw that on FB this morning, quite odd, even a bit spooky.
Yikes! Good timing on the brakes. Have seen trees like that across the BB road but never on the Spur. Lucky folk.
It happened a couple of weeks ago - I think from memory on a Monday. Road was closed for hours. Fernshaw picnic area is a real mess. Railing on the bridge over the Watts River also damaged (you can see that with the first tree that falls). Interestingly, there was a strong breeze up here, but nothing more.
Was that a couple of days after Christmas? I was in west gippsland up near drouin and a wicked storm passed through. We travelled up to Baw Baw the next day, and there were plenty of signs of trees over road and a lot of wind.
29th I think.
Yep thats the one. I got an urgent call from my dad who was out making hay at Drouin to come and get him. It was great hay making weather until that wind it. I think it probably blew the hay into the neighbours paddocks and beyond.
Video is from the 28th December.
Bears liked that video from Fernshaw...lucky that nobody was squashed..
pic of tree taking out bridge rail was superb!!
