Hi, I am thinking about heading up to falls creek this coming saturday to go fishing at rocky valley dam. I am planning on parking at windy corner car park and walking out to the lake.
I was wondering if anybody could tell me how much snow is still on the road between the car park and rocky valley dam? Is there still people cross country skiing on it, or is the snow cover too thin now?
Also if there is still people skiing there, am i going to upset anybody by walking along there? Should i wait for the season to officially end?
One last thing, when does the season officially end?

I don't know how much snow is on the road to the dam, but the xc report says poor between windy corner and the nordic bowl. Doubt that there will be a lot of xc skiers, but some keen ones will be getting in a last ski methinks.

In any case, you are always allowed to walk up to the bowl, keeping to the left of any classic tracks. At this time of year, I can't see anyone minding if you walk up to the dam, just keep to the side, and try not to trash remaining cover and grooming.

I just made a call to falls creek, if i go tomorrow its $25 resort entry and i have to hire chains, even though its going to be 20 degrees and i have a 4x4.
But if i go next week, i dont need chains, and no entry fee!! Looks like im going next saturday!!!
