I didn't ski Venet but it doesn't appear to be a very big area although bigger than Fendels. What you could possibly do is ski Fendels for a couple of hours on the Saturday morning, travel to Landeck, then ski Venet in the afternoon.
When you catch the bus back to Landeck be aware that it may go via the Landeck-Zams station, then the Zams part of town, before going to the Landeck part of town. It did confuse me for a bit because I was expecting it to go to Landeck first (what I thought the timetable said). So if you are staying at the Gasthaus (Greif) I stayed at, make sure to get off at the Landeck Marktplatz. The Venet ski area is in the Zams part of town.
Save plenty of energy for where the Big Dogs play DSNS. Work on that confidence so you can get value from a guide. Fresh snow coming Sat.
I have a wall full of piste maps in my house from all over the world. Great to help create that winter feeling in 35C heat in Brissie
Oh mate. I already have his first day intro Itinerary to St Anton based on how early he gets to first lifts and wind direction on the day thought out. Probably should refrain and let him do his own discovery tour. Im clearly overthinking it and suffering from SDS
Today I just dinked around Fiss. Here’s some pictures of some clouds. Going to do something different tomorrow.
The gondola is an access lift only (base is at 900m). All the skiing is above that. A chair and a fairly steep T-bar. I found that T-bar a bit tiring towards the top. Actually thinking back the top of that T-bar was quite tiring and probably the most difficult part of the day. Had to do a few circuits down to the chair to break it up a bit.
Breakfast in Austria, lunch in Italy, life is good I think I covered all the major food groups Oh I also did some skiing in Italy too. Schoneben-Haider Alm Belpiano-Malga St Valentino There was one brave soul ice skating on that lake. Today's track map. @Kletterer, I’ve still got one full day here in Ried. If it snows tonight, where should I ski tomorrow in Fiss ? I don’t move to Landeck until Sunday.
Depends on visibility. In low vis i generaly head for the tree lines runs over at Serfaus. If it lifts a bit you can head up higher to Plansegg or Konigsleitenbahn. If you get some depth- There is some good reasonable pitch offpiste off the top of Plansegg around piste # 110 ( black) that doesnt get wind loaded.
Don’t know about all the food groups but I’m confident you’ve got carbs covered. Loving this report. Great photos. I’m having a ball vicariously.
Just the lightest of dustings here overnight, only a couple of cm in it. At least it will freshen up the cover. Will explore Fendels and Venet I think.
@DidSurfNowSki Im putting on beef looking at your food pics but it’s ok .. cause I’m burning it off with the rest
@DidSurfNowSki ..... If your able to..... It dumped overnight at Lech and was still falling as I LEFT..... grrrr. 3 weeks skiing about the region and not a flake then it smashed down from about midnight. Great for anyone heading up that way. Not sure that it’s going to be good for the White Ring race today. I’m off to Sweden.
Well today was the last day on my Ski 6 Pass. I knocked over the last 2 ski areas; Fendels and Venet. I’ve posted the Fendels pictures above. The quad was broken for about an hour so no one could get to the top of the hill. There was a ski patroller stuck on the lift all that time. As soon as it started turning I jumped right on and managed first runs off the top. So good to be skiing fresh snow again. As soon as lunchtime hit I bailed to the 2nd ski area near Landeck. The cable car ride up from the bottom was almost worth the trip by itself. The piste runs in Venet weren’t that good, but good fun was had once you got into the trees. It was a case of seeking out freshies by the sides of the runs. Afternoon tea was had at the Jagerhaus. I know @Astro66 would be interested in the quality of the cakes in such a place. I can confirm the chocolate cake was excellent. Well that concludes the skiing out of Ried. I managed to ski each day and visit each ski area on the ski 6 pass, with a quick trip across the border into Italy. Today’s track maps. Tomorrow is a transfer day then I’ll be checking out the skiing from Landeck
Go to the Rendl area in St Anton for a start . Dont eat up at the top of the Gondola ( Rendl Beach Bistro ) . The little Hutte below the last steep pitch of the Rendl abfahrt is nice but get there early.
If the weather is ok head up to the Schindler chair and look left down the cliffs near the top. Head straight ahead and go right at the fork .
Going right on the Red piste is what i meant. The good offpiste is down those cliffed areas ( chutes ) as you look left going up the chair or on the slopes on the front side .
Your chair may have had an upgrade https://www.stantonamarlberg.com/en/archiv/highlights-news/new-schindlergratbahn
OK, tomorrow is sorted. VVT have a ticket app which I'll try out. Two ways to get out to St Anton; bus only or bus and train. I've loaded the Ski Arlberg app onto the phone which also has the trail maps. Going to start at the Rendel area and take it from there. There's a moderate avi danger currently. Need to stay away from wind loaded slopes, particularly above 1800m on shady areas.
Yes, but plenty of them and staggered. A PITA when dragging your luggage up. And first time when not expecting it, going along a gasse. Fine otherwise and also not a problem going down with gear.
