Just be thankful you're not paying for ski school.....! A$400 + tip per person for group lessons at Park City at the moment. No multi-day discounts, no half days, no other options. Or put another way, nearly $9k to put 2 kids in ski school for 10 days!! As for coffee, best not to look I suppose!
Madness. Meanwhile just over the hill at Alta you can get a two hour group lesson for $80 bucks. I think that’s a fair deal. I’m sure most people would make improvements with 5 two hour lessons with the same instructor. And you get to work on the instructors tips when you’re skiing with your family/mates later in the day.
Last day skiing in Utah was spent at Snowbird. The snow stayed nice and soft all day. Each day has started overcast here with the sun coming out in the afternoon. Lunch was spent at very nice place down at the base of the hill overlooking snow covered pines. After a great days skiing, it was off to skimo for some more retail therapy. Tomorrow is a rest day, then it’s onto Whistler to finish up on next week. Forecast there is a lot of snow, followed by some smaller falls of snow. More to come
Some random thoughts to end this trip report: I’m very glad I didn’t have to drive this time here. The turn right on red, the four way stop signs, driving on the right side of the road, the middle lane bordered each side by double lines., the amount of traffic .. no thanks ! We had a small herd of deer walk past the house this morning; beats kangaroos for a change With shopping there is too much choice eg a whole isle for snack bars I’ve developed a fondness for Quaker Oats for breakfast The Cottonwoods are a fantastic place to go skiing, the snow is soooo creamy and smooth with a consistent surface from top to bottom My wallet is considerably lighter due to the excellent outdoor/ski shops The kids doing freestyle skiing here are the best I’ve seen anywhere My Utah hosts were the best ever, I had a fantastic week
I love the turn right on the red. I nearly pulled a few lefties when we first got home out of habit. I think 4 way stops work really well also.
So given a significant number of Australian’s cannot use a roundabout properly, 4 way stop signs sound like a Darwininan adventure for us.
It's first to arrive, which causes me all sorts of problems. By the time I realise I'm at a 4 way stop it is too late to work out who was there first.
Combination of both https://www.drivesmartbc.ca/stopping/4-way-stops I’ve been working on the first to arrive assumption while checking carefully before moving.
What actually happens is that law abiding North Americans (they are very obedient) wave frantically telling me to go.
Same. I don’t think I’ve had to think “give way to the right” for 30 years. All the roads have progressively been signed with give way or stop signs, to prevent stupid.
Ummm ..? I can't think of any 4 way stop signs . I remember there was one. By Woonona high . Yonks ago?

The ski schools of most major US resorts are simply unaffordable due to high pricing and the exchange rate.
