A few spots on the car at Ridleyton when we came out of the function we were attending. Nothing registered in the gauge at home this morning. Was a nice day to be out in the garden yesterday as well as catching up on a few painting chores.
bah, u beet me BD, got enuff to wet the concrete here
but basically a dry argument. if it wasn't for me rum i'd
be in drought. i noticed the precipitation from the cloud bands
ramped up as they passed over the ranges from about
callington to the mid north. also interesting to watch the
shotgun coldies evaporate as they hit the coast and moved
over land, even moving over YP and KI was enough to trigger
their hissy fit.
looks like a wee bit of a rainband incoming on top of the front
and associated wind swing.
might even bag a coldie if were lucky but the s.e. will get the
best being more an event for anything south of adelaide and
closest to the coast.
If you had the wind we are having the washing ,may be at Victor by now!
Yer looks good for a reasonable soaking and maybe even some hail in SE and in hills.
We should get some good heavy showers in the hills and adelaide should get some half
decent ones and Reynella also
15mm here we always do well in strong westerly to WSW'lies, 15mm Mt Lofty, 4mm Kent Town, 5 mm West Terrace
more strong winds and showers today by the look. 0mm at Pallama in rainshadow, Mannum would not have gone well Werner unfortunately for this westerly rain-shadow event.
yeah, need more of a SSW or southerly flow or even better some presents from the east for Mannum to score! I think one such occasion was in December 2004 when we had 4 days of thunderstorms from the east and recorded rainfall in around the mid 90's.
As I have mentioned in the other forum, I'm going to my property this coming Saturday to see how much rain we've had since the June long weekend as well as water some trees which were planted then (if they're still alive).
This morning, I tipped out 4.5mm at home, which was in the middle of the 2-6mm predicted for Adelaide, so quite happy with that.
I'm quite disappointed that the daily & weekly rainfall readings for Mannum don't appear to be taken any more as it gave me a guide as to how much my property could have received.
Also, I'm having a bit of trouble finding an official long term average rainfall for Mannum, any ideas where to look?
6.0mm up to tonight, day wasn't too bad up to late this
arvo when everything went pear shaped, closed in and
turned to crap as the sun went down.
one really interesting thing watching sat. all day was the
standing lee wave setup east of the ranges all the way
from down south to above pt augusta.
it was sustained and actually enhanced as the day went on,
watching the animated one could watch the cloud move
eastward through the waves as they remained stationary,
appears to be the result of a stable and laminar airflow.
damnit i shoulda took a screenshot,
yer your right bd, a relatively common occurrence but
his one was long lived and extensive in both north/south
and up to 5 or 6 waves in the east/west propagation
it was a ripper.
i'm surprised you didn't see it, it stood out like the proverbial,
you look at sat. don't you?
come to think of it might be able to dig it outa strike 1,
i'll see if i can have a peek-a-boo later tonight.
was in town most of day th but saw similar situation a week ago approx with main standing wave stationary and other waves moving eastwards rapidly through it and going further eastwards.towards the SA/VIC border.
