Mine have little implants in them, I have an app on my phone, and can detonate them at any distance.

    Dont steal other peoples stuff.

    I like active protection.

Since a mate lost his goggles when he put them down and turned his back for 30 seconds to take a leak in the mens' at River Inn I trust nobody at the snow.

I lock my skis up in Australia almost everywhere unless they're in close proximity where I can keep an eye on them. I wouldn't dream of leaving them unlocked at the bottom of the mountain. I'm a bit more relaxed in Japan and France but still lock them where they're out of sight and someone could make a fast getaway.

A lot of the time I think it's mistaken identity, especially with rental skis which all look the same. One trip a mate lost his rentals so simply picked up another identical set and returned them instead. No questions were asked.

There are plastic combination locks available. I bought one a number of years ago but returned it when I found that a moderate tug would simply pull the cable end out through the lock. I called it a "placebo lock". These days I have a "snowy strap" - about a metre of thin steel cable with a good solid loop at each end and a little padlock. It'll need a good set of pliers or wire cutters to get past that, so the thieves are just going to move on to easier pickings..

My snowy strap came in a cloth bag. I keep one key on the pull strap so it's easy to find if I drop it, and I keep another key in my wallet just in case of disaster.

    Same

Won’t stop a determined thief but will stop opportunity theft as well as some numpty accidentally taking them*

    * happened to me last year and some clown picked up my skis and used them all weekend before attempting to hand them back to ski hire.

When I was living in Canada I noticed a lot of resorts used this integrated system which was brilliant.

I was disappointed moving back to Australia and finding out this didn’t exist here. Anyone know whether Aussie resorts have considered a locking system like this?
