Good news. We are up on 20 July. How much more needed before Summit & International run (and Lakeside for that matter)?

Summit really needs close to a metre to be good - but that depends on how the snow came down. If the was a 30 - 40 cm base, and then 30cm of fresh fell, then it would be okay for quite a few days, assuming reasonable weather. Conversely, 70 - 80cm, but a few weeks since the last fall, and it would be quite ratty. Inter is about the same.

Lakeside needs somewhat less, maybe 70 - 80cm. If they can open RC and Scotts, then there should be enough for the piste for Lakeside, even though most it is not covered by snow-making.

I'm guessing another round of good snowfalls on Thursday and Friday might even open up Summit. Can hope anyway!

One can always hope (and pray), but the Summit might be a stretch for this weekend. Fingers (etc) crossed.

Summit would be an enormous stretch this weekend.

Scotts & Ruined will be helped by lots of snowmaking this week.

I'm trying to remember when Summit opened last year but struggling to look back through my pictures and find snow depths to match them up with. Anyway, we definitely skied it. Remember, there is another big front to come through with Frog forecasting 20-40cms.

Last year was my first year at falls and I came up the week the fog and wind rolled in. Didn't get to ride Lakeside, so it'd better be open for me when I get there this year!!

    Four weeks to go!

Re: Scotts & Ruined Expected to Run on 9 July

I think Summit may open if there is another 20-40cm of snow. International needs to have lots of snow underneath the lift line so people can touch the ground!

Yeah I thought Summit opened in the second week of July too. I've added some pics I took on the first day it opened last year, so everyone can see how much snow there was! Lets hope Falls gets this much soon!

I was down the bottom of Castle today, there is at least 60 cm covering the loading carpet under the drive. There is gonna be some tired boys and girls working the shovels to clear it out. Scotts and Castle Will open on the 9th but will need lots of hard work on the part of the lifties.

That would be around the time Hotham opened Orchard so makes sense.
I'd like that picture again on Saturday! Probably won't happen but I think we'll be tantalisingly close to the 1 metre mark by the weekend.

Hmm maybe not ... Falls Creek reporting only 58cms in the Village Bowl this morning. Thought it might be more by now. 20-35cms forecast for the next two days.

Dees, dont forget that the 58 cm reported in the bowl is packed and groomed snow. If it was fresh snow it would be a good bit deeper
