Walk around Nozawa in skaters and your feet will be wet in five minutes. If it has been snowing, they use hot spring water coming out of sprinklers in the roads to help get rid of snow. Most streets are narrow and have almost no footpaths. You walk on the road.

Because I live 5 minutes from OOL airport I've always been seduced for 15 years by Jetstar
    "I can handle it"
    But no more
To be fair the original plane (I think 767??)wasn't too bad but the sardine tin 787 that is their stack'em and pack'em offering now means a drive to Brisbane

Not to mention all the ship-ups from Melbourne and the like getting packed in on the way up. QLD really is our dumping ground.

I only have 8 days skiing, I thought I had 9 but miscalculated. I originally wanted a minimum of 10, but being first time to Japan didn't allow for the travel in and out times. I could have easily booked a couple of extra days on had I known.

    So you miscalculated the flights?

No, I just thought I had 9 days skiing for some reason. When I looked into a possible rest day in the middle I added up and theres only 8! I booked the flights for 12 days in total, but leaving at 11am from Narita means I chew up that day and the day before. I can ski the morning before if I want to. In hindsight I would've just booked extra couple of days.

On your last day skiing you could probably ski until 3 - 4pm (a decent day) and then train it back to Tokyo for an overnight before you Narita flight.

Grandpa oh and computer programmer too.
So that explains the point about lace up boots being a problem mentioned earlier in this topic. In other words I can see, and vaguely recall from ten years ago how they are a PITA, what with the slipper culture, but the solution highlights the problem in terms of there being an alternative.
