Meanwhile, it's raining at the base in most other places in central Japan.

What's the temp in Shiga and for the rest of the week? Trying to decide if I should bring a super warm jacket, or a spring skiing jacket...

Daytime temps will be roughly -8ºC to 0ºC with night time dropping another couple of degrees. I'll be in a single light thermal, Patagonia Nano-air and Goretex shell. on Sunday when it's particularly warm I might even swap the thermal for just a t-shirt. But I thrive at that temperature.

Colder Thu, and still cold Fri, with temperatures not hitting 0 degrees until Saturday at the Prince/Ichinose. Then it looks like around freezing or slightly above as max Sun/Mon.
At the top of Yakebitai & Terkoya, look for -10C tomorrow, and -6 Fri and -3 on Sat.
Doesn't look like it will get super warm (e.g. won't get to 5 degrees) during that time.

Haha, but, a lot of experts / specialists on Japanese tv recently are saying "Mask won't help you avoid catching the new virus but it helps you avoid spreading the virus to the others when you are the virus carrier":p. They say "Wash your hands often, especially before eating". "Don't touch your face (most people catch the virus through their mouth, eyes and nose)". "Eat well and sleep well to boost your immune system":)

I don't worry about the virus at all even though I was surrounded by so many Chinese speaking people in the very crowded ropeways of Zao Onsen:p. The population of Japan is about 120 millions and only less than 200 are the virus carriers. Zao mountains suddenly erupt and kill me, I rather worry about the case more than catching the new virus:whistle:

@Sandy Today will be our first day on the all mountain pass, so we are planning on heading to diamond and then maybe family from there. We are easy to spot, listen for the 6yr old, who is chasing the 10yr old :)

Skiers right on Diamond is usually very good if no gates setup. Seems very few go there.
Don't go charging the trees skiers left on Family.

As I post about this in some other threads, a lot of Japanese ski resorts have their official photo contests. Shiga Kogen also have their official photo contest. Winners can get a travel ticket of 70,000 Yen, Shiga Kogen's season ticket of next season, free hotel ticket(of Shiga Kogen), Shiga Kogen's original goods, etc. Japanese ski resorts including Shiga Kogen are targeting foreign tourists and they are "more motivated" to choose photos of inbound tourists (I think so). It's great if ski.com.au's people win the contest;)
