I’m not familiar with this lodge. 35k seems a lot for a lodge share.

What makes it worth so much?

I think it’s an ambit claim.

By recollection shares in that lodge sell a bit cheaper than that.

The price is a little up, but I found someone selling a share last season for $28K.

    225 shares, 20 room/units......28 night rights.....

    Would never work for me.

Yowsers. If I was looking to buy 1/225th of a $7 million lodge in Thredbo I now know where to look. Nice looking place - I remember a _very_ long time ago one of the guys who worked at The Base at the Thredbo turnoff used to also be the manager there.

35 grand seems a bit steep for a silver Brumby.

You can pick up this silver Brumby for only 2,000 bucks on Gumtree AND it has a targa top thingy.

there's no mention of how big a share you get for $35k.

Perhaps exclusive use of the toilet roll holder?

The lodge must be fabulous employers... I've known management there since 1993 and in that time the role has only changed hands once, around 99ish. Those managers still there, 20 years now.

That was off their website, a 'share' is actually an allotment of 35 shares in the private company, with 225 allotments.

To become a member of the Lodge you need to own shares in a company, The Silver Brumby Limited. The Silver Brumby Limited is a privately held company and the shares are not listed on the stock exchange. Shares are sold privately, in parcels of 35 which cannot be separated. There are 225 parcels of shares

Usually in case they decide to increase membership by splitting parcels in future (although, if that is the reason and they had thought it through, the parcel would have been a multiple of 12).

Hi there, some answers to you rquestions:
    • No car parking
    • No snow inSummer either!
    • The membership secretary told me what the shares had sold for recently, so that's why we decided on that guide price.
    • You can keep the shares in the fmaily forever - or give them to your kids. That's why memberships don't come up for sale very often.
    • Annual fee of $475 and a member rate when you book. For example, the rate for 14-20 July (high season) is $85 per night for adults and children. You can invite guests and this comes out of your allocated bed night for the Winter season. See below. The non-member rate is $120 per night per person.
If you'd like more details, check out the website or request a temporary membership and then you can have a look at everything in more detail.

    • Some FAQs from the website:

    The Silver Brumby, Lodge Membership.
    Price:
Price is a matter between the buyer and the seller and is influenced by market demand.
    About the lodge
A comfortable lodge offering quality en-suite accommodation for members and their guests. An all year round lodge that is catered during the winter season, all school holidays and long weekends.
Catering consists of a cooked breakfast and three course dinner.
During non-catered periods a continental breakfast is provided.
A well managed and maintained lodge much loved by it’s members providing a happy holiday facility at a very affordable price in an extended family atmosphere.
Share turnover is low with shares being tightly held.

    Winter Stays
Each member is entitled to 28 bednights during the winter period. These are allocated during the official booking ballot period each year. (February/March).
Over entitlement bookings are accepted and processed once all entitlement requests have been dealt with. Non ballot booking requests are also received and processed throughout the winter.
The lodge maintains a waiting list for members who may need to cancel or change their booking.
In general and from past history most people’s requests are able to be met.
July NSW School Holidays can be tight, but if a request cannot be met one year then that membership receives preference the following season.

    Summer Stays
There is no ballot for summer bookings. The only restriction is specialty weekends such as Blues and Jazz where a member is limited to four rooms until 1 month prior.

    Rates

We have two member rates, Members and Members Guests. Each member is entitled to 35 nights during the winter period at the Member Rate after which the Guest Rate applies. Members are encouraged to nominate the Guest Rate when booking for family and friends as this still offers excellent value and assists to keep the Members Rate as low as possible, providing the maximum benefit from your investment.

Apart from the Winter High weeks, children 14 and under are half price.

    Temporary Website Access
A temporary login can be provided upon request where in the Members Section useful information relating to Booking Rules, Lodge Etiquette, Current Rates and newsletters can be found. To arrange for temporary access please contact the Lodge,

    info@silverbrumby.com.au.
    Inspection
An inspection can be arranged by contacting the Lodge Managers on 6457 6244 or info@silverbrumby.com.au to arrange a suitable time.

    Cheers everyone.
