That's a bit drastic, another worth a try is under Long Johns, can't remember the name.

    Penelope,

We are in Silver star at Chrissy for a couple of days. Just interested in the cost of the Sun Peaks season as we have a week there as well., just before. Is Silver Creek Lodge , Silver Creek Hotel.

?? The area at base of Silver Queen Chair has accom available. Once you get to top of Silver Queen yoi can ski around to comet six. How do you get back, via the village.
Am I correct that the accom at the base of Silver queen is easily accessible?

Hi @Ret-ro . I actually have no idea how accessible the base of Silver Queen is as I haven’t been to Silver Star before, so @KneeDeep , @Crystal , and @sly_karma may be better able to answer your questions. I have bought season passes for Sun Peaks as we are there for 15 days; this gives us 2 days of free skiing each at Silver Star. I believe there is a reciprocal arrangement for Silver Star season Pass holders too. You then get 25% off subsequent days. Silver Creek Lodge seemed reasonably priced (I booked through Travelplan). I will look up the cost of Sun Peaks season passes in Aussie dollars (which includes tax) and get back to you.

Silver Woods chair accesses all accom on the Knoll. Also a beginner quad on the Knoll.

Easy to get back to Creekside area via Attridge. In the morning access Silver Queen chair (opens earlier) head to Silverwoods for a few quiet runs then over to the Comet.

Ok, looked up the price I paid for Sun Peaks season passes (early bird, ie before 30 June), if that’s what you were asking? $AUD1136.66 through Travelplan including tax. Available on-line through Sun Peaks Resort for $CAD1132.95 incl $53.95 tax until October. Go to the Silver Star website and plug in details for season passes to see what the cost is there. Again - reciprocal arrangements whereby season pass at one resort entitles you to two free days skiing at the other. You probably need to ski for longer than a week though to get your money’s worth from a season pass.

The season pass is the best deal before end June when its $900ish plus taxes.

You also get a free group lesson and 25% discounts at a few different stores.

You need to ski every day for 2 weeks to make it worthwhile but if you add in the silverstar days that increases the value

I buy my season pass next month, deal finishes 29th September. $589 plus 5% gst. There are some advantages for being a senior citizen. Includes skating, tube park, cross-country trails, etc.

We are looking at doing both downhill and cross country. Is the My1Pass worth getting? Also, since the nordic area connects to Sovereign Lake, is that included?
    Thanks!

Sovereign lake is extra, can be purchased as an add on when buying pass, I think? All pricing for next season not available yet. Season pass bought on early bird has a break even at 8 days. Check the benefits that are offered on SS website.

I would say silver star is the cheaper of sunpeaks and silver star, accommodation and lift tickets were both cheaper for us by about 30%.

I can recommend the supermarket in the Village Green complex in Vernon we shopped there last season and the fresh vegetables and meat were great. There's also a small store next to Long John's in the resort for any last minute things. Try and catch an ice hockey game if one is scheduled when you are there heaps of fun.

SS has now added Apex to their reciprocal pass list. Two free days for season pass holder of either resort. Sly can come for a visit for free.

Not much is likely to change in the short run, but Silver Star is changing ownership. Powdr is moving into Canada. The approach Powdr takes to operations is that the local management are pretty much in control. Big budget projects have to be justified to corporate leaders, but they don't get involved in day-to-day details. Powdr also owns Woodward (action sport camps), which has been expanding lately. The newest Woodward is in Park City.

    Dec. 3, 2019, Powdr website
POWDR ENTERS CANADIAN SKI MARKET WITH ACQUISITION OF SILVERSTAR MOUNTAIN RESORT
    " . . .
POWDR is acquiring Silver Star Ski Resort LTD. and Silver Star Holidays LTD., which operate SilverStar Mountain Resort, from Cann, who will retain Schumann Resorts LTD., which holds 30-acres of SilverStar real estate development land.

Wonder what impact this will have on the reciprocal lift pass arrangements with other resorts (eg Sun Peaks)?

The Powdr destination resorts are pretty different in how they handle their 1-resort season passes. Copper has reciprocal arrangements with a few days at other ski resorts for season passholders. The list includes Monarch and Purgatory in CO, Taos, plus Powder Mountain in UT. Can ski for free at Grand Targhee if book lodging at the resort. Killington season passholders get assorted perks, including activities during the summer. Bachelor is currently not on Ikon and doesn't have any perks at other mountains.

Pretty different process when both companies are privately held, in contrast to when Vail Resorts plans an acquisition. The deal is complete. Silver Star is already listed on the Powdr website. So far the press release info has only showed up in news outlets in Park City, where Powdr has it's corporate headquarters, and Vancouver.

Looks like Beerman and family will sneak in a visit to Silver Star on the 18th Jan. Will be just a 1 day sampler/recon for a future trip. At this stage looking to stay in Vernon, unless someone can throw in a great accom recommendation.
We have wheels so can make most options work.

I just double checking our itinerary. I booked an AirBnb in Purcell Drive. On the map, it looks like it's up the mountain rather than in the village. How far is this if we were to ski or walk into the village centre?

Fairly long walk, that is way out to the side and up the mountain. Skiing to village only if lifts are open. Very quiet location only coyotes etc. I would not stay there, it is right on a skiway make sure you have a trail map. Drive to village would be the best.

Yes no problem skiing out, could make it to the village on cross country skis, downhill skis you need lifts working or you have a bit of a walk.

Two chairs you can access, Alpine Ridge and Silver Queen. Halfway down Alpine Ridge bear skiers left and you come to village. If you are too low head for Silver Queen, that will also take you to Silverwoods, Comet and the village. Suggest you look at the alpine map or Google maps. Your accommodation will likely be around the Criss cross area. I won't be there until the 21st January, a bit late this year, happy to give you a tour if dates work.

Well, we are booked into Silver Star from 12-16 Jan, and were planning to ski for those 3 days after arriving on the afternoon of the 12th. I hope the accommodation is nice and we have access to good wifi because with the temperatures forecast I don’t think we’ll be doing any outdoor activities!

At that temperature your skis won't glide anyway.
