    Why not?

The Wakhan Corridor is (comparativly) safe. Taliban do not operate at all in the area.

Certainly better than big shite. [IMG]

I'd throw in $5 just to see some pics, get enough people willing to do that and you're set! Gulmarg was fun, but A'stan would be something else again..

Yep, I'm going for about a week - security situation pending.

    Mazar, Kabul, Bamyan and Band-e-Amir.....

Very very very expensive place to travel (safely) though.

Sponsoring entails that you're getting us some exposure for having given you money, maybe should try asking an arms manufacturer.

Bamiyan, cool as. Very picturesque, please indulge us with some pics upon return, that would be good karma for you...

Interested to hear your thoughts when you retun on the cultural diversity between mazar and bamiyan, north is tajiks and Uzbeks where bamiyan has the more Mongol almost Sino afgans. Then u will have Kabul, which I imagine would be an epic mix of everyone.

Hey can I ask how you are getting in? Khyber via jalalabad or straight into Kabul?

Khyber is a no go. Pakistan hasn't allowed access to foreigners via the Khyber for several years now.

Still not entirely sure. Either fly into Kabul, in from Uzbekistan to Mazar, or in from Khorog, Tajikistan to Falzibad.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you're not a starving child who has little access to fresh food, clean water, medical supplies, housing and education.

    was waiting for that reply.

Never said so. Simply saying the word sponsorship doesn't necessarily imply some kind of commercial gain for the sponsor.

I was out in khorog a few years ago, a bit too early for skiing but still lots of snow about. That big of Afghanistan is repayment safe, as is the border crossing with Tajik (at least it was when I was there). There would be a lot of skiing around khorog too. Talking to tue locals they had someone come out for a ski the year before I was there.

Where in Myanmar snow-pixie? Was there last year. To be quite honest the country didn't do much for me. Bagan was pretty cool though.

I'd do Kashmir before I did Afghanistan.

    Myoko where did you go?

My plan is to go south around Moulmein and then up north and base myself around Hspiaw. Then I guess do Bagan and Inle (probably go South Inle, to escape tourists).

Colombia is hardly dangerous these days (and even when I was thee 4 years ago). It was just bad luck.

They just took over an overnight bus I was on, for about an hour. Was just trying to rob everyone. They got my wallet with about $1.50 off me (even though they pointed a gun pointed at my head and I had $500 cash on me and camera - i managed to hide it).

It is quite rare, especially on the route it happened on. It was just just bad luck.

Reality is, the interesting places of this world often entail some risk. But then, there is a significant risk each time you hop in my car, yet I bet you dont worry.

Nonetheless, if I wanted to go somewhere boring, I'd go to Europe [IMG]

I was talking to a guy from Myanmar who used to do a lot of trekking in the Myanmar Himalayas(not sure what they call them)
He said there were some really nice 3000-4000m peaks that would be great for skiing(the highest is 5000m+ from Google)
There are NO (zero) ski resorts in Myanmar but some avid mountain clubs by all accounts.

Have had my head buried in the Great Game for the last couple of weeks and am busting for March to get my central asian fix.

Same place he puts his tablets. Lets just say you don't want to go doing a line or two with the money after you've stolen it from him.
