Staff and students spent the last three days snowcamped on the Rodway Range at Mt Field and despite the cover lessening there is still sufficient snow to ski the entire Rodway Range to Newdegate Pass and back along the Tarn Shelf. We snowshoed this route but others skied it in the past few days. All the lakes on the Tarn Shelf are fully iced over. We built snowcaves yesterday at the Lions Den including a five person one which students slept in. Another one fitted a staff member but the third was only partially built. Certainly the large one is very useable although it would be good to partially close the largish entrance. It also has scope for further expansion :) Hopefully others can make use of it considering how much energy the group put into excavating it. Obviously though don't assume that it will be uninhabited if you head there...
