Hi Guys,

Well, its the night after some good snow forecasts.

The LM website show absolutely no change to yesterday.

Village cam is not updated, snow reports doesnt even work, road condition is not updated since yesterday, and there appears to be no other evidential photos at all of whats going on...

The only thing i can find is that the skidget reports 10cm of fresh snow....

Anyone confirm??

Their website has been down for yonks

They haven't yet phoned me this morning, so I phoned their info line to find out. 10cm across the resort. Rated Excellent. Chains required. Trails closed due to expected high winds.

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

I've just had the phone call. They'll re-assess the trails this afternoon. It's a good call though, plenty of burnt trees that could fall across the trails. Anyway, you'd be crazy to want to ski the trails this morning.

There's probably more than 10cm on the trails. They haven't been up to check - but there's 10cm at the carpark.

Good luck Teckel for more snow and open trails - you & the whole community are due better fortunes.

A big raspberry to the snowcam ISP!

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

They've managed to get some updates through to their website (mainly the snow report and trail head pic).
They've also done some grooming and are rating all trails as fair currently, and they've opened them up to skiers.

Thursday could be slushy . Me and slush we've never got along and never will

And while I'm an it : thanks to this "crazy winter" didn't manage one downhill trip this season

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

i reckon it has something to do with the fire they had in the building there a few months back.

Up untill then it seemed to update fairly regularly. But since then the time of day, and frequency of updates has been very speractic. Almost like there is someone manually updating it when they get a chance......which is possible seeing as they are having phone line problems........like doing it via dialup, or wireless broadband or something..

Hope they can get it up and running.

To be honest its a very important part of being able to let customer know if its worth going or nor. How else are regular families meant to know if its worth going ot not if the site doesnt get updated?

As of 8am this morning, there was still no road condition update, the snow report was simply blank, and no photos.

I realise im only one person, but it really would be good for their image if they let people know what was going on.

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

Maybe they don't see the urgency at this point in time , and considering that the season was a disaster....

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

yeah, probably right. And certainly not detracting from the hardship they have been through. I too lost oved ones and property in the bushfires....

They have also had a bad season all round.....

But at then end of the day, they run a business, and need to attract customers in the most effective way they can :). A regularly updated website can reach a very large number of potential money spenders.

Anyway, back to the fact, its great to see snow up there!!!!........

I cant wait to get up tomorrow morning to see what else has happened overnight.

Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday.....the kids are already excited!

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

I expect they would. They did some grooming today. You can always phone them of 5957 7222. Then select 5. You'll initially get a voice saying "invalid selection" or something similar. Ignore that and the phone will start ringing and someone will answer. I doubt they'll be able to give you a straight answer today, but you could try.

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

If the groom today they'll definitely groom tomorrow with the snow coming tonight, probably another 20cm+ . L.M usually gets nothing or more than all the other resorts .
It could be a nice surprise tomorrow !

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

Since for once, temperatures are not going to be a problem, Lake Mountain should do quite well tonight being very southern.

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

This scares me a bit :

Forecast for Wednesday
Cloudy. Scattered snow showers. Winds west to northwesterly averaging 55 to 65
km/h, reaching 70 km/h at times. Overnight temperatures falling to around minus
2 with daytime temperatures reaching between 2 and 7.

Mount Buller Snow and windy. Min -3 Max 0
Mount Hotham Snow and windy. Min -5 Max -2
Falls Creek Snow and windy. Min -3 Max 0

Tomorrow morning at 6 I'll check what is the temp at Buller before I leave , usually +2 at L.M. If Buller is close to zero, I'll pass.

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

Alpino, it may be Max 2c but wind chill will probably be -10c. I wouldn't be too worried about the temperatures tomorrow.

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

just out of interest, would it be pretty safe to sya that the toboggan run(s) will be pretty empty on thursday??.....

Given its a "school" day, i would have thought it would be.

One part of me thinks having it to "ourselves" is good, the other part thinks more people makes for a better atmosphere for the kids.....

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

Yes. Toboggan runs will be deserted - actually, the smart snow-players will be there. School groups will be on the trails - unless the trails are closed due to wind/fallen trees, in which case the school groups will be mucking around on the beginner area close to the toboggan runs

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

not sure if this is of interest to anyone, but i just got this email back from administration at LM

"Yes the trails are open we are having trouble with the updating of the snow report. "

I emailed them and asked which was correct, the front page, or the snow report..........and thats the answer i got.

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

I remember the spring dump in 2005. Trees were down everywhere, so badly, that access to the resort was impossible for 3 days after the dump, by which time the best snow had gone

Re: 10cm fresh Snow at LM

the photo i have for the village is a MASSIVE full res photo from yesterday. Actually makes the page totally out of whack.

Full Res Image

I have found since they put that slideshow on the front page, I need to clear my browser cache quite often to be able to see updated images through the photos section.
