Hi,
I am a tad confused here. The Konig size guide is saying this their 265 chains will fit the 2 x vehicles I will be taking up to the snow which are 265/60 R18 and 255/60 R18.
See: http://www.mtironauto.co.nz/snowchainsizechart.htm
However looking at chains on gumtree:
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/croy...o-problem-t2-magic-snow-chains-265/1116805072
They list sizes for 265 on the chains advertised:
31x11.50-15 <--I'm not sure what this means....
265/70 16
285/45 19
265/75 16
265/65 17
If they would fit the vehicles, why wouldn't they list them? There is a chance the chains are very old and the size guide is out of date?
I am very confused and slightly O.C.D. but I don't want to get caught out as I understand how dangerous it can be up there....
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Ryan

Car manufacturers seem to delight in introducing/inventing new tyre sizes. Chain manufacturers list common and/or known tyre sizes. I would say those chains were manufactured before your car tyre sizes were invented. What sort of 2WD has tyres that big, anyway? Please don't tell me it's a jeep!
The 31x11.50-15 is an American truck tyre size.

Now, looking at those chains, they are very old. If he paid what he claims he paid, he was seriously ripped off.

maybe you need a more reliable source than gumtree?
the NZ source looks ok

also, they're expensive for second hand, even if they are the prestige brand
have you shopped around?
we don't use them much in Oz, so you might not want to overspend
