dont normally get prefrontal in fronts like this that come directly from the south, prefrontal is more associated with warmer (read tropical) moisture dragged in from central AUS or the indian ocean.

baw baw would have to surely have 10cms of snow at this stage.

Can anyone on Mt Dandenong confirm if it is still snowing? I was thinking of taking a drive up at lunchtime but I just checked Duns hill and it is reporting a temp rise. [IMG]

    Any info greatly appreciated.

:woohoo: Its snowing here in Melbourne, well, on the 20th floor. I'm looking out of the window, seeing snow flakes fluttering around.

    Now its back to rain.

    No, here they come again.

For about 10 min we were entertained by the dancing snow flakes (small white fluffy things that dangled a few feet from the window). They would come and go every 30 seconds or so.

Now its just rain. Oh well, back to the grind.

I'm see 7.7°C, little cooler than that but still not enough to really support snow 20 floors higher up. Short lived flurries might fall that low though I guess, but they wouldn't settle anywhere.

I have seen flurries as menioned above in Sydney years ago, and in Gosford NSW, July 10 1985 or it may have been 1984 I think, there was snow flurries at 100m in the hills behind Gosford.

just walked in the door and as i type mt d is getting molestered with rain/snow again.

due to reports i was expecting snow from ferny creek, alas the snowline was a bit higher, nothing consistent until olinda. Burke's lookout was the way to go, but it was hella windy. saw that big line to the north come in, if only it was 20km to the east :p

Would have stayed but my video camera ran out of battery. was going to go back but my car wouldnt take it (40 profile tyres, super-low springs, lowered etc) but i am willing to go if someone will take me (chief?) about 5pm this arvo onwards.

 but it was very wet and very inconsistent.

mate its cold enough, especially if we hit olinda way. i wouldnt mind a lift if you're offering, say if there's something interesting on the radar around 5-6pm???

Monaroq - head to olinda [IMG] go soon and you might get something, check the radar and try to time your run.

    Hi guys,

i had snow this morning at about 8.30am. It hailed constantly for 15mins with the last 5mins consiting of snow. I'm out near Warburton (Millgrove) and we are about 200-250 metres above sea level. since then it has only been a mix of rain and hail.

I'll be heading up to the dandenongs to take a few snaps at around 5.30pm if there's anything around. I'm in Montrose if anyone wanted a ride up.

not dried up, but there will definately be less moisture around.

there will still be showers around tomorrow morning, albeit more isolated than now.

and another decent hit for that dandes on the way too, wind just picked up at my place and its gonna start hailing soon.

Funny how showers normally seem to break up across the bay or when they hit land, but they seem to be gaining intensity today, not that im complaining [IMG]

Lake Mountain is getting smashed. Check the camera. I reckont there is about 5-10cm on the ground judging by the rock in the background.

    Amazing

I just got back from top of Mt Dandenong, arrived at 12pm and it was snowing/sleeting/hailing for around 5-10 mins, only the hail was settling tho. Continued to sleet on and off until I was below olinda. Pretty cool anyhow!!

Huge hailstorm just past through morwell area - drove straight through it - there would of been about 5cm of accumulated hail near the open cut!

It was headed straight for the Strezleki's, hopefully we get some snow up there!
