    Hi Guys,

Getting a Hire car from Melbourne and driving to My Beauty.

Which is the quicker route, turning at Snow road from just past Glenrowan? or continue on to the Great Alpine Road turnoff near Wangaratta? or are they about the same journey time?

    Thanks in advance folks.

Just be mindful of the 60 zones around Oxley and Milawa. The revenue raisers like to get their radar guns out to nab unsuspecting motorists not completely fixated on their speedos

Snow Road for sure, plus it breaks up the monotony of the Hume. 2 1/2 hours on the Hume is enough to to start making me drowsy.

We typically go GAR. Yeah, time is about the same. No need to go through Wang, has been bypassed for years. IMO more straight forward, no crossroads, shorter amount of speed reduced zones and less likelihood of getting stuck behind slower traffic without passing opportunities. An exception is if I want to grab a coffee and bite from Snow Road Produce in Milawa.
Main one is don't go via Bright after Myrtleford, turn off at Ovens.

Google says the same time for me and the GAR is a slightly better road

Time is very similar. Heading back from mt beauty we tend to do whichever ever the slow guy ahead doesn't.

Snow road is good ...coming home straight over bridge over Hume and swing left and along old highway sth then straight into Glenrowan before(7pm) and order Burger with lot at Neds Burgers beside hotel/motel....none of that mickey mouse Maccas with the minions..o_O.

oh Hoppet Woppett there will be speed cams everywhere to boost the states wealth...even a circus of police highway cars that love skiiers..... and the new roundo is a sight seeing must...
