    hi

After a bit of help, can't seem to find anything on google on this topic.

I am off to Utah skiing for a month this Christmas and have been keeping a close eye on the snow forecast and mountain report.

Snowbird requires roughly 70inches of base depth coverage to open the whole mountain. Snowbird is currently at 38inch base coverage, there is 46 inch snow forecast over the next week. Of that 46 inches of snow forecast, how much of it will be added to the base?

If anyone can provide any information on how much snowfall is usually added to the base then it will be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

I'd estimate that 4 feet, if it eventuates, will add 18-24 inches to the base. This is just gut feel.

You're also right that Snowbird needs about 70 inches to be skiing nicely.

I have been to Snowbird and Alta in January 3 or 4 times. Snowbird has always been mostly open. There were probably some gnarlier corners that were closed but I didn't notice them. Alta is a bit different. Areas like Catherine's Area and the runs around Rustler and Backside have been sketchy at times.
