CP should buy a couple of hovercrafts they can run on snow, ice and normal road surface without any damge.

Hover craft fans do not like ice, it builds up and self destructs due to centrifugal loads. great idea but!!!

    Happy girl has right idea.
buy a truck with a blade and run current buses with chains.Have shuttles from tennis courts as to allow village to remain snow bound.

I have thought about this too, but I think you would run into problems at the Perisher end of things, not cause you can't grade the road, but cause they wouldn't like it. <img src="https://www.ski.com.au/xf/styles/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="\:\/" title="smirk" height="15" width="15" />

The reality is if they can keep the mountain roads in the USA open, they could surely keep the road to CP open (with our all of 2 metres per year), even if they only allowed company buses to run on it.

They would still have to leave one lane snow covered as to allow oversnow acces for lodge managers(or allow managers cars in to tennis court) and emergency service oversnow machines to access the main range in case of searches etc.

    There is only one answer

Small monorail, one carriage, 25 people, does the trip in 5 to 10 min

Cost is probably an issue as with NPWS because of visual track (small footprint though) and do we really want hundreds more
skiers and boarders wrecking our virgin snow. Not me [IMG]

Maybe 2 separate carriages so the uphill downhill power regeneration can be used

How about an open chairlift, oh thats been tried before

Crikies, they cannot even get a phone tower up there, even as a safety net (should be an OH&S requirement) did that poor young lad have a phone on him
    when he got lost

minimal mobile coverage is an advantage to going to CP. You can legitimately tell work that they will not under any circumstances be able to contact you [IMG]

The plural of hovercraft is hovercraft. No 's'.

I reckon we build cable cars from Thredbo and Perisher, call it the Australian Three Valleys and have a multi-resort pass.

Unfortunately the simplest answer is often the best. From 'solmanic'
    https://www.ski.com.au/xf/posts/1094295&page=1&fpart=2
if they keep the road in good shape, ie; prep and groomed, the trip takes 20-30 minutes with the added bonus that you don't throw tracks. but if you choose to groom a 38 hr week and not to conditions you get a poor result. Maybe 3 groomer staff and 3 groomers next year ? A better investment than renovating the bistro.

Much as I have wondered / suggested that the road be graded, I personally like the "remote" feel that over snow gives you. Was interested to see that the Kiwi resorts use All Wheel Drive MAN buses, seem to work well for them, they don't drop too many off the mountains :)

Thats a little harsh. The concept works well at Courchevel, Montaret and Val Thorens (ie The Three Valleys or is it Trois Vallee). I don't regard people of Courchevel as Bogans! Of course the concept was a flippant joke which would be completely non-viable financially besides the inherent distrust and dislike the various resorts seem to have for each other! But gee it would make for a fun ski-week and when you live in Qld that is about all you get.
