A very welcome 5mm overnight. Great night for sleeping, mild temps, bit of humidity and that nice smell of rain wafting in thru the verandah doors.

Hardly anything here, ground was a little bit wet but that was it. Disappointing. Going to be the driest October on record if early next week doesnt come off.

    Was very humid this morning.
Went for a lazy 5km jog and was sweating big time. Plenty of moisture in the air, its just not falling though.
Everything was slightly damp around Elsternwick Park this morning, but no surface water

Steady rain here on St kilda road for the past hour I'd say, minor flooding on parts of the road around my office. Air feels very heavy. Nice to see proper rain falling, looking at the radar it seems to be building up a bit more. Hopefully lasts for a while longer.

Another 7mm during the day giving a total of 12 from this system, happy with that.

Now looking more likely than unlikely for storms early-mid next week on the eastern seaboard. Where the rain will fall is always a guess, but looks humid and likely that storms will form daily for a few days.

Still had some good showers here this morning. Probably got 10mm for the whole event. Given we've had bugger all for two months now, that's more like spring.

Sunday looks like a chance for Victoria.
Next week looks very active for NSW. Not sure we'll see much of that pushing down to Victoria apart from the NE & far east.

Yeah the position and depth of the trough changes from run to run at the moment, sometimes pushing into us, sometimes not making it over the range. But as you know with this kind of weather you cant really predict it with any real certainty, need to look at the daily weather conditions and soundings.

Troughs and moisture have made a move north this morning (for next week) and looking like most of NSW is going to cop it. Again, I expect this to change around a bit in the coming days.

EC has been pretty steadfast that we down here in Melbourne will miss most of it.
GFS is a little more optimistic, but NSW looks like they will get plenty

So random, those rainfall placements. Just like how it'll be in reality IMO. I wouldnt take too much out of that chart apart from the fact they'll be rainfall all over the place, some will get a little, some will get a lot.

East coast trough has definitely moved north and east, and will affect the eastern seaboard. VIC and central NSW will miss out for the most part, as suspected. Looks like we're looking at the weekend for the next chance at rain.

Pretty awesome lightshow out my livingroom window facing E-NE (From Elwood) last night along with that sunset, one of the best I have seen in Melbourne. Most amazing colored blood red rainbow and there were colours in the sky I had never seen before.

Bit of drizzle this morning but nothing to accumulate.

    My site (Melbournes SE):
    Total This Month 3.2mm 6 Day(s)
    Long-term Average 79.0mm 15.8 Day(s)
    Wettest On Record 129.1mm 2010
    Driest On Record 26.1mm 2008

Unless something crazy happens it'll be the driest October on record, by a long way.
