STW out, pretty much in line with CC's GFS chart posted yesterday:

i am not convinced we will see any fireworks in metro Melbourne and only predict pretty tame storms in the western districts.

Purely looking at the radar it doesn't look like happening in the metro area.

Nah its not going to penetrate down this far. Pretty boring really.
Still bloody hot, feels like that first real proper hot day this summer, got that humid sweaty feel inside the house here in Elwood. Hope that change hits soon so I can cool the joint down before Beddy byes

Troughs pretty much all over the country for the next week. I'm not fully convinced on their positioning yet, but they seem to be warm and moist, which = storms. Hopefully everyone gets a share of them.

Positive buoyancy at 750hpa and a LI of -4.6C on last nights sounding. That's about what it was the other day (LI was slightly higher) and nothing happened. Today looks like a similar setup, light winds and good cooking here in Melbourne this morning, hopefully we get a light show or something at least.

Moving too quickly in the upper atmosphere, despite at ground level being OK. If anything happens it will be when the sun is on the way down or tonight.

36 degrees and very windy in Dubbo today. Had some thunder last night that woke me up but not even a drop from it. Hopefully we get something this afternoon. Starting to dry out and i'm already over moving the sprinkler.

Are you saying that the street lights are activated automatically according to surrounding natural light?

Street lights have been on for a while is all.
Obs in this Village over the years tho' I probs. would have to say yes .
Maybe not all of them but a couple are always on whenever it's gloomy for sure.
Possible tho' of course there is a manual factor.

Was a ripper. Some pretty close strikes in the buildings in Bondi Junction; very impressive from 17 storeys up.

Super humid for the bike ride this morning though, so capped it at 50kms.

One of the most sustained thunderstorms I can remember. (melb metro)

Started 1am (maybe 1.30) and has perhaps just finished in the last 30 mins.

Awesome (not so good for sleeping though, yawn)

Looks like it going to train over Melbourne inner burbs for the next little while, its throwing it down at the moment here in Elwood. Might get some solid totals.
That light show last night was amazing, so consistent, and the thunder was so loud so frequently.
Good way to start the week.

Destructive weather in my area from early this morning, so much fork lightning and rain, but no hail as of yet. I've never seen so many traffic lights out on my way to work, and standing water on the road. At the moment absolutely pouring at work and should continue for the next hour, some good totals will be recorded.
