Forecast is 42 on Friday in the western suburbs, so about 40-41 in the lower mountains. Do not want.
Does look warm in the central east on Friday
And hot on the NSW north & central coast on Saturday
Then QLD gets it on Sunday ...
JMA make the call for El Nino in 2015
I reckon we're well in it already. This horrible cold spring for southern NZ has all the hallmarks of an El Nino.
Heatwave forecast service is now live : http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/heatwave/index.shtml
You must be managing this service for sure
Wet change over the SE for Saturday afternoon / Sunday. EC showing up to 20mm for Melbourne, and GFS showing a chance of thunderstorms early am Sunday.
Wind looks to be down though.
Doesn't look too bad. Brief period of higher wind early Sunday am, then 10-15knts for the rest of the day from the west.
Im thinking Saturday from midday onwards.
Swings to the E, SE later in the evening.
I reckon we will only be out until dark at the latest, PlowKing is a bit of a wuss.
Rain for Sunday morning (3 hour totals)
Been a bit toasty
Latest GFS shows a direct hit on Melbourne around 2am tonight
Should go close to 40mm, clearing by about 8am.
raining now in ivanhoe
Solid rain in Canterbury. Getting a few flashes and rumbles too.
A few decent showers so far , lightning and thunder at the mo. Glad I cleaned the gutters and hopefully tanks will be full again by morning.
Up in Shepparton for the mrs's half ironman triathon tomorrow. Light shower just past but the smell of rain on hot earth is very summer like.
Become very muggy again and by the look of the radar, I hope the annex of the van keeps the kids dry!
Steady rain for some time, 24mm so far
33mm here in Canterbury. Radar suggest another 5mm before it clears.
nice steady rain still falling in metro Melbourne.
closing in to 40mm so far.good call cc.
no bike ride this morning.
Yup, washout on the bike today.
Wet, windy and cool this morning
Still raining here in Sandringham. Had almost forgotten what it sounded like until last night.
EC showing a few more rain events for the SE over the next 10 days. Could be another big event around the 24th.
Solid rain for me, 40mm was pretty much bang on, really heavy at times on Saturday night.
Honest to god, there is nothing better than sitting inside with the rain belting down, fire going, sport on the TV then sleeping in the next day with the rain still pelting down.
Soooo I have terribly bad luck when it comes to camping. (take note anyone reading this if you were thinking of joining @sara777 and I on any of our back country expeditions next year)
Anyway I have been booked in to go camping this weekend at Green Patch in Booderee National Park (near Jervis Bay)
Can anyone put me out of my misery of whether or not I will have a pleasant weekend? Weatherzone is suggesting rain is possible. :-(
Going on EC, it should be ok until later on Sunday. Monday looks wet.
Models are not super stable out more than 4 days, so that's not a super confident prediction.
Eh, looks ok to me, if not super amazing beach weather. I like the simplicity of the BOM forecasts, here's the Nowra one. My rule of thumb is if they say "showers" it's nothing to worry about, if they say "rain" it's time to worry.
Super camping tips if it might rain - take a large tarp or fly to rig between trees or your car to make a cooking/hangout shelter. Alternately, if you have hatchbacks, move the cars so they're back-to-back so the raised hatches almost meet and form a shelter, throw a tarp over the top, sit in the boot, get the stereo going and break out the drinks. Good times.
Thanks for the tips
Hey, it says cloudy only for Saturday You will be glad for the peace and quiet after the Xmas drinks
We will be just around the corner in Culburra, so if it is crap weather I know who to blame.
BoM have moved their ENSO tracker to 'El Nino ALERT'
Thousands of bats drop dead from NSW Heatwave
Things are looking up for my camping weekend - windy tho!
Looks hot up there for this week too.
Sorry for them but liking that we don't have any big blocking patterns going on down here atm.
ITCZ is in a weird stagnant position at the moment, which is why the SE isnt seeing many blocking patterns. For the rest of the country's sake I hope we get a big polar blast come through to push it up north again and get the monsoon kicking.
Just cracked 40 at my place as we close in on midday. Hmmmm 3pm looking very warm!
Looks hot on Sunday for coastal NSW
Crikey 40s on the coast, that's hot.
Had a nice 6.5mm of rain last night
Gauge only gave us 1mm from yesterday's rain, although it felt like more.
My place was over 5mm, cant remember the exact figure, but it was a good follow-up fall to the larger one on the weekend. Rained quite heavy at times, but only in short bursts.
Looking stormy Sunday in NSW
And Monday with the addition of Victoria
SA Inline hockey tournament tomorrow and sunday at barmera by the lake
39deg on a outside rink
Blardy hot and breezy up here.
I honestly can't remember the last time it was 35C in these parts ---- and it's only November!
