Our family have been camping at Thredbo diggings for 10 year and loved our experience of fellow campers and met great people who we ride with now through our camping experiences. Sadly the culture is changing and seems that theft is on the rise. Today we had our solar panel stolen, its not small, a frame hand built by my hubby. Its not the $ as he works in the industry and it was not worth $, just the time to build the frame. Just sad that people are stealing.

That's what I have always thought. Everyone there to be on the hill and respect each other and their belongings.

    That’s rooted.
I have always trusted people over the many years but I feel the demographics have changed in the past few years with the hashtag / wikicamps deadshites.
They ruined the respectful, unintrusive car park culture a few years ago.

Sucks. Are you positive it's not downwind?

Could a branch have collected and dragged it off?

Ngarigo is a better class of people. Thredbo only.

Definitely was not going anywhere, it was bolted into the ground.
We have always loved The Diggings though it might be time to check out Ngarigo.

Ngarigo peps are very friendly, I was even given a few shovels full of glowing hot coals to help get our fire started last weekend. Thank you coal donor, was very, very much appreciated!

I got a gas torch that uses the little winter mix gas cans. Blows a 14" flame. Lights campfires instantly.

    Amateur!

The only reason jerrycans were invented was for lighting campfires. Simultaneously light fire & self.

    unlucky outcome for you.
was it locked to your camper ? cheap bike lock would normally be enough to deter these pricks.
same goes for all these people whinging about getting skis stolen.... but won't invest in a cheap cable lock.
hard to be sympathetic when it could be avoided with ease...

Leave nothing you fear to lose. Probably the same crew that nicked that blokes wheels and brakes (last year?) at Cascades.

I feel differently. Why should they have to lock it up?

    You shouldn’t have to.
    But...
I gamble on my gear not being nicked a fair bit. Often forget to take a lock. But it is a reality of life that a heap of people don’t have the same kind of ethical boundaries about taking stuff that isn’t theirs.

For the same reason that you can get fined if you leave your car unlocked and unattended?

I always lock up stuff when camping and my boards - just don't want to be disappointed by others
