Avalon Airport: 46.6ºC
Friday 12/1/07 thredbo AWS 24.2
My prediction 24.6
How about an update Verm?
OK here's an UPDATE guys because Vermillion has been such a slacker to not provide one
I checked everyone's predictions against data on the BOM website. If I've made an error with anyone's town feel free to correct it.
The temperatures below are the Max recorded for the said site. In brackets is how far the guesser was off the mark
The Leader Board so far
1. BenLomond Iceman Launceston 33.7 ( +0.3 )
= Trail Blazer Sydney 38.4 ( -0.3 )
2. Smokkinharry Thredbo 24.2 ( -0.4 )
3. Quro Darwin 36.5 ( +0.8 )
4. Blue Neon Melbourne 40.8 ( -0.9 )
5. Wodonga Josh Albury 42.5 ( +1.0 )
Im in front. I thought i would be pretty close after mondays scorcher (33.7) about as hot as it gets in Launceston!
Where on the BOM website do you get the info from zar?
- Go to one of the individual State forecasts ( top of the BOM home page )
- Click on "Latest weather observations for.."
- Click on "Daily weather observations for.."
and that'll give you a list of all the stations in that state, alphabetically listed. 13 months of data for every site, or three years of daily data if you fiddle around with the link in the address bar
I thought the rules were if you went over your prediction you are out?
not so SH, some people asked me to change it, so thats the way it is now.
Thanks for doing that zar, yes i have been very busy lately, and this will continue but i will try to get a full leaderboard up soon.
Sydney hit 38.7C (my exact prediction) at 12:26pm and now the seabreeze has come in and knocked it down to 32C. This is the hottest that Sydney has been at any time this summer.
It's still 40C at my place though (northern suburbs).
The temperatures below are the Max recorded for the said site. In brackets is how far the guesser was off the mark.
The Leader Board so far
1. Trail Blazer Sydney 38.7 ( 0.0 )
2. BenLomond Iceman Launceston 33.7 ( +0.3 )
3. Smokkinharry Thredbo 24.2 ( -0.4 )
4. Quro Darwin 36.5 ( +0.8 )
5. Blue Neon Melbourne 40.8 ( -0.9 )
6. Wodonga Josh Albury 42.5 ( +1.0 )
34 days to go, and the Top Gun trophy is still up for grabs....
Indeed. 40.5 in Hobart/ 41.3 in Campania would be perfect
I was going to put a full leauge table up before but I figured I'd be close to the bottom, so I thought nah - I'd skip that idea.
Anyway, this is a fun competition, I think congrats should go to Trail Blazer so far for his flukey spot-on prediction
it is a fun competition zar. too bad i havent had any time to put up a leaderboard or anything, been very busy with work and play (turboing my car ).
well summer is over...
yeah yeah i know now uni has gone back and i have a lot on my plate at the moment, will try to sort this mess out that. thanks for the bump too quro. what is is that you want? the AWS stations for each person? I can set it up so it goes Username: AWS #: predicted max temp.
wish I'd seen this thread MUCH earlier!!! doh!
Perth new record for March today - 42.4C
sweet arvo at the beach too
Carnarvon hottest March day anywhere in Australia on record two days ago... 47.8 degrees.... and it's not summer anymore. That was probably the hottest day anywhere since summer began. I think Perth's hottest day yesterday was the hottest as well this year.
And the winner is.....
Well I know that Sydney didn't get near 38.7C again since I last posted.
