Depends when in Feb, where and for how many - chalets for a family still tight. Single/ couple room in the village hotels no problem.

How old are the kids? Ours (9,10,11) go a bit nuts in a hotel room for two weeks and need some space.. if that’s the case, condos at trappers lodge or that side of the village are good value for money. If yours are better controlled than ours, the village hotels (coast, , cahilty, hearthstone etc ) are great for ski in ski out. Can’t really lose any way at SP. That place is just gold and a family favourite.

Our tribe would be 4 adults, looking at the map and accommodation offerings theres plenty of good choices. We won't have a car so within a comfortable walking distance to the village would be ideal.

Look up Trappers #2 on alluradirect.
2 bed, 1 minute walk to Orient chair and under 10 to the village

Also look up Trappers 13 on allura - bit smaller and cheaper price, better suited to 4 people

    https://www.alluradirect.com/1202/

Trappers 2 is on the front of the complex, with views to Mt Morrisey - the living area is on the ground level with bedrooms upstairs, and a besement den/gamesroom which is also set up as bedroom. We stayed there with 5 adults very comfortably.

Trappers 13 is at the back of the complex, which backsa onto one of the walking trails that you can ski in/out. A little bit smaller. we stayed there as a couple. still very nice but the living area is upstairs, so you do a lot more climbing up and down staris

Season passes just locked and loaded before the 30 June price rise. The anticipation just went up another notch for the kids!

Question - I vaguely remember it being discussed on here that there was a restaurant in Sun Peaks that offered a decent xmas lunch/dinner. Anyone remember the name and would recommend?

    Thanks.

Yeah Nah. I stayed at The Burfield (which I loved) which is opposite the Burfield chair and just over 2km from the town centre. I would normally consider 2km a comfortable walk, but not so much at night in -18°C. Still, it wasn't too much of an inconvenience - good shuttle service and ski in, ski out.

Powderhounds, located in the Fireside complex) is great for dinner, nice food not too formal and you have a choice of a fixed christmas dinner or a la carte.

    They dont open for lunch

Send them an email or FB message and book youself in soon as they sell out long before you get to SP.

And the price is excellent. They dont load the prices like you expect in Oz for christmas

I always opt for hostel type accommodation when I travel on my own. I've made some good friends doing that over the years. If I'm travelling with my wife, she always wants to stay in luxury hotels, which we do, but which I find boring.

Beautiful day in SPs. Coming off a few much needed days of sun showers. Looking lush and green. The Mountain is prepping for the Summer.

Residential construction is continuing at a blistering pace. Trades are in short supply. One would be lead to believe that the boom would go on forever....... Are we seeing a repeat of the GFC as it affected the US housing mkt? Not different this time.
RE valuations for SPs are at levels much higher than 2008 when I first arrived. The Lower Mainland peaked in 2016-2018 depending upon whether it was a SFH or condo in the sky. All mkts stall at the top. Go sideways for a time before the realization that the good days are over. The next step is anyone's guess. Will we see the 30-40% drop here over the next 3-4 years like what occurred in SPs from 2009-201?. The influx of buyers are dependent upon the wealth effect of their principal residence. Only time will tell.

Too many interest only loans that rest to principal and interest. For the Aussies (Lower Mainlanders too), you personally could do all the right things in purchasing your property but it's the blokes who got in over their head and will lead the RE mkt down when things reset. I believe we will get off lightly if we only see a 20-30% correction over the next 3-4 years. Mathematically,
housing prices are supported by constantly increasing debt. It has stalled all over the world. Lower interest rates will just compound the problem like throwing gas on a fire.

Ditto for Beerman clan, probable dates at SS are 18-21 Jan, but TBC.
That will be SP from 28Dec for 10 days, then BW from 8Jan for 9-10 days, then SS from 18Jan for 2-3 days.
I hop there is some alignment ;)

Check both SS and SP websites for the info. In a nutshell, if you purchase a Season Pass at one resort, you get 2 free days skiing at the other, with the usual 25% discount on any subsequent days.

I'm asking for help on SP multi day ticket info..............

I'm trying to find pricing for 18/19 multiday lift tickets, can anyone remember, have a photo, or point me to a web site??
I've checked the SP lift ticket website and spoken to SP ticket sales this morning, also checked Liftopia but cannot find multi day pricing for 18/19. The upcoming season multiday pricing will be released around 17 July according to the lady I spoke to this morning.

    TIA.

I am being persuaded (thank you, @Astro66 ) to consider a Sun Peaks trip with my boys in January 2020. May even combine with a few days at Silver Star. So hiring a car at Kelowna is an option? Hmmmm .... Doing the maths ....

Kelowna has good air connections. Lots of car rentals, SS is a one hour drive, SP is 2hr 15 from YLW on low elevation, low snow route. Car makes sense financially when you have a few people, plus bus connections are non existent. Western Canada is very car focused.

an option would be to fly into Kelowna, (morning), hire a car and drive to SP (230km), spend your time at SP, then drive back to Silver Star (190km) and then fly out of Kelowna.

You could also do the reverse, in/out of Kamloops

But there are more flights and bigger planes at Kelowna. Rare to have to leave skis behind for fully booked flights into Kelowna, but that is common for flights into Kamloops.

    Surely not!

Good to hear this. I certainly won’t be hiring another Ford Expedition Platinum, that’s for sure. I was thinking of driving from Vancouver (and may still do so) but recall from my last trip that road conditions could be a bit of a lottery ...

As I recall, when I went in February, the fare to Kamloops was the same as the fare to Vancouver and the shuttle up to SP was pretty cheap. Apart from missing the connection and spending 24 hours stranded at Vancouver airport, it was smooth as silk.
