What’s happened to the Umbrella Cafe?
its currently 3 degrees in the village. I suspect they put the roof down to let in some sunshine
Was removed for the Orient chair base.
Was moved not removed. In the pic the umbrella was folded up - I’ve not seen that before.
You see the roof down a lot when conditions are suitable
So day 75. 860,000’ [260,000m] vertical so far. 27 days left. Still on target.
Every day is different. Yesterday skied 6,000m. Some wonderful skiing in the washing machines and then up on chief and sunny side.
Managing fatigue is an issue. Stretching important. Last day off 14th January during polar out break.
Today warmer. Cooler tomorrow on.
Hey, you can more than double that with one run down Five Mile, with minimal fatigue.
Bit over 5,000m today with 6 laps of static cling.
Colder whether coming back.
Couple nice little runs in the powder from a few days ago.
warmer maximum of 4 degrees in the valley today. Are you finding the valley a bit slow?
How's the thaw/freeze first thing in the morning?
More in the afternoon.
Cold due to return in coming days.
First warm spell since early December.
What was that about Jeffrey ?
How cold was the polar outbreak, what temp?
I am with you Chris, I would do laps of 5 mile and look at 12k /metres a day. Be a blast.
Think I’d stack through boredom.
But it works for some people.
Not a challenging run, but a very pleasant one nonetheless. When I was staying near the Burfield chair, I would catch the first chair in the morning, then ski down Five Mile to the village for breakfast. Nice start to the day.
5 mile can bring you undone.....
So day 84.
Objective 1 reached. 1,013,947’ completed the day.
Second tracks on exhibition. Rice bowl, bumps on 5th Avenue, 5th tracks Runaway lane, Static Cling, couple on Grand return. Typical day.
18 days still in play.
try for 1,000,000m?
Snow on my back deck so far this season. 377cm
So much great skiing!
Stay on topic, off topic posts removed.
Didn't know you were skiing on the back deck...............
At -25 no wax works.
This weekend looking cold
At +25 I bet your wax is equally useless
Whats off topi post ? Seriously.. we talk about Sun Peaks.. its a broad topic..
Well clearly you missed what I deleted. You may thank me later.
I seen it, and if you did see it you would have thanked him later......Nothing remotely relevant to SP, just a rant of hate we can do without.....
Couple of beautiful pics from Sunnyside two days ago.
Day 90 yesterday. Snow is in superb condition. Lots of little top ups every second day.
Very cold overnight. -22. That will improve the snow pack even more
Couple of days ago, nice little 10cm top up.
First chair. First tracks down Sundance.
First tracks down Exhibition.
An hour later took a run down through Chute. It was Ok. These people were struggling a lot more.
Found a few turns on the side.
Damn it. I was going to nip over there next week. Not looking like such a great idea now
so @Taipan how are the crowds comparing to what you would have expected without the CV19?
Almost no change. Appear very normal.
Today I’d say it was the cold that kept people away. -20 on the crystal.
Still lots of skiing for March.
Whistler closing tomorrow for 1 week at least.
Silverstar as well.
Was fortunate to have one powder day at Silver Star last week. Putnam Creek (backside) was well worth the trip. All Black runs. Not used to the long run-outs there but was told to wax for the conditions in advance.
Crowds thin yesterday due to wind and cooler temps. A brilliantly sunny day otherwise.
A repeat day that promises to warm up by the aft.
Mid-season conditions are in play here. Lots of areas where the snow blew in.
Yep lots of road skiing at SS. Not fun on cold days, slow snow and no turning effort to keep you warm.
So unfortunately due to the potential for borders to be closed, heading home this Wednesday. 1 week early!
Snow and skiing conditions absolutely superb at the moment. Bright sunshine and cold conditions!
So only way to change my booking was to drive to Kamloops Airport and get it changed by the counter staff.
Air Canada phones are not even putting you on wait, and the web site wont rebook under the 22nd, [even though it says you can change up to 1 hour and 15 minutes before departure].
Should be 95 days. Have to call it a training run for next years 100!
So you go into 14 day quarantine when you get back here too
Looks like I wont see you again this season Taipan, understandable to go back early though. Safe travels mate and thanks again for the hospitality.
And Sun Peaks announced today at 3pm local time it is closing for the season on Wednesday, 18 March.
My last day anyway!
Last lift for season closes at 4.00pm and I leave at 4.00pm!
Nice out there today. Lots of overflow from other resorts.
