Our last day at Sun Peaks. Fresh snow everywhere to ski in the morning, packing down as the day went on. Cloud hung around from the Top of the World to the top of the Sunburst Chair, which meant that the high alpine was a bit visibility challenged. With the low mid-week crowds, the weekenders coming up from Kamloops should have a great weekend as there is still plenty of untracked powder all over the mountain.

My verdict on Sun Peaks after my first visit: it's great! It's a bit of Goldilocks resort, IMO. Everything feels "just right". I think it is an impressively laid out mountain, with something for all levels of skiers. Everything seems to be very well maintained. The Village offers a nice mix of places to eat.

despite our lack of worldy experience, we absolutely love SP - Goldilocks is the correct expression as far as we are concerned.

Just stop telling everyone!!!!

Love that tornado roll. I took a mountain bike officiating assignment at SP this coming summer just so I can get another run at that plate of deliciousness. Whether the event will actually proceed remains to be seen of course. Third wave of covid will be upon us before the end of ski season.

So if you could choose either Sun Peaks or Whistler only for the rest of your days which would it be?

Ooh that's a hard one. If Sun Peaks was closer to Vancouver I'd choose it. But because Whistler is just up the road (and easily doable as a day trip), I have to choose that, but purely on geographical convenience.

They're such different mountains.

If I could somehow move Whistler closer and have its terrain without the crowds and the glitz then Whistler would keep me happy happy. But I have excellent options where I am, so where I am is where I'll stay.
