Haha Sly - that'd be right

We went for a snow shoe walk today - plenty of snow here but veerrrry crunchy...am dubious about the state of it up top but I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Toxic Fox that photo looks great - was the exact spot I wanted to ski but didn't get to

Sly, thanks for the Ski, +1 had a wonderful time as seen by his smile. and Taipan family thank you for the party even though I felt like I walked to Siberia to find it.

Toxicfox, we can meet for a ski in the morning if you like and hit the T, i'ts better in the afternoon though with the sun on it.. Shall we keep the meeting point as Massas for 10am and 1pm for all ski.com.au tragic's?

That way if people want to ski with others it's an easy meeting point.

I am still smilling from the fun today.

Great idea Crystal, Lets keep the same routine for the rest of the week. Like you say, that way people can come and go within the group as legs/kids/etc dictate.

We GPS'd our ski days - here is half a day we had over at Morrisey with Dave6 and his +1....photos come up in their location on the map. EveryTrail is very good and can be used on the iPhone (we have data roaming turned off and it still worked).

Day 5 AM - Morrisey

Great little gadget Sno4WA. What is the GPS base unit? Is it something like a bike computer that you just put in your pocket then download into your PC at the end of the day.

Who makes them and what sort of cost are they.

Anthem we started using a Garmin GPS we brought with us but ended up just using the iPhone "Everytrail Pro" app from the Apps Store for iPhones. With the iPhone 4 it has built in GPS. Then just take your photos with the iPhone with Everytrail turned on and it adds all the location data to the photo. Everytrail records kms, pitch, vertical, speed...and the best bit.... either $14 or $4 for the app (can't remember but very cheap). You can export to Google Earth or to a .GPX format to load into your GPS if you have one

Great photo of you Sly - where is yoru mate Heath though.

Been awhile since I've posted anything on here - had to get a new log in.
Android and I are so disappointed that we were not in SunPeaks for the big get togther this year, so Taipan please keep those pictures coming.
We are heading off to Big Sky Montana next week so at least we will be getting some snow. Really looking forward to a day trip to Yellowstone, so hopefully we will see some Bison and wolves. Then we are heading up to Banff/Jasper for three weeks. Bigget thing I'm looking forward to is that we have booked the bobsled ride at Calgary Olympic park - the website says we will experience up to 5G's at around 120km in 14 secs. I think I will eat lunch after the ride

Bron, I led a small group on a 'discovery tour' of the Delta Glades. There's enough snow but it needs to be skied more, lots of no-base effort in the trees.

Static Cling was my pick, although the trees off the top of the Burf was pretty close behind.

Hi all - had an interesting start at Whistler today. Got stuck in the main Whistler Gondola for 2 hours
eek.gif
Was a very bad stop - cabin ricocheted up and down wildly (apparently the gear box broke). Fortunately we were sharing the gondola with a couple of Ski Safety crew on their way up and they had staff radios so we knew what was going on. Still 2 hours is a long time to be standing in a gondola 40m off the ground in -16C.

Whistler management handled it very well and when we finally limped to the station they had people there with free lift tickets, passes for free lunch and beverages and a management guy making sure everyone was ok. Gondola will be out of action for a while.

I wonder how long that gondola will be down for? Would be nervous riding on the first day.

Can anyone tell me if there are any issues with taking Australian Uniden UH075 radios to Canada (and using them)? The bands don't seem to overlap with anything important as far as I can tell.

I just need to sort a 110V power supply lead with the correct outputs to plug in to my base station.

Yesterday I bit off a bit more than I could chew when tagging along with these guys
WhereIsIt.jpg

But this morning after 20cms of powder during the night missH and I got into the powder on some easier slopes.
Powdery5Mile.jpg

Last night walking back from dinner mrsH slipped on ice and went over. She was on the ground before she knew she was falling.
I shouldn't have helped her up because after just two runs this morning my back was complaining and sent me in for something to take.
Just as well I brought my Geriatric Skier back brace, it will get some use but not this afternoon as the something has taken effect.

Does anyone have Peter the Kiwi's phone number ? if so can you send a message that I have second skin for him from the hospital. I'll leave it at reception labelled Peter the Kiwi, don't want to ski with it as that will mean folding. And Peter if you are reading this you are welcome to come down the hall and say hello. Reception know us well

Hope you guys got a share of the big dump that Apex received. Knee deep mostly, face shots in the drifts. Day of the year so far. Made a few phone calls last night and invoked the 20cm rule.

Thanks for a great days skiiing Toxicfox, +1, master fox and Friend. One to cherish. Meeting place tomorrow same as usual. 10am and 1pm, in front of Masa's.

Unless the cloud lifts, in which case I will happily lead a group for a quick lap down juniper ridge to Father Toms as soon as thebubble chair opens.

That hard work paid off then Taipan. I was pleasantly surprised today by the crowds being not too bad really. Same with the weather. Thursday night on the fondue descent was warm and last night we had to turn the heating off and open a window. However the snow today was a nice mix of cream, near ice (at bottom of Ridge, no sun) and although a bit sticky in parts it was all good.

Still too warm here to get too excited. Will go for a lap around each hill here to find out where the best snow remains. The higher the better I would say.

Yep, female intuition off the mark. Sticky on Morrisey, heavy (for SP) on bottom two thirds on Sundance. Football on TV is the order of the rest of the day here.

Just went out to bring the skis in before it is too dark and it is lightly raining in the village.

I presume when normal temps return on Tuesday, as forecasted, it will all freeze over and the groomers will be hard at work with tilling/pulverizing the top layer, but on fewer runs.

We got home okay but uncomfortable, off for more xrays and Drs today. latest report looks like the boys bones have moved, lets hope we don't have to reset or worse surgery.
