Despite the doppler signature, there don't appear to have been any sightings of a tornado on the ground or damage that could have been associated with a tornado. In the day and age of incident social media reporting, if something does happen you tend to know about it very quickly. Will be curious to see what reports there are of trees down or roofs blown off. Awesome looking storm though!

Almost got a direct hit of the black at Stanhope Gardens in NW Sydney.

The storm was very fast moving, 3.3mm of rain. Rain rate up to 18.4mm per hour. Maximum wind gust 58.7 km/ph, and marble sized hail up to the size of a 50c coin.

Went through the ‘Northern Eyewall’ just south of you in Acacia Gardens. The storm sat to our south west for awhile, then the notch of the storm quickly roared over with borderline destructive north to north east winds - close to 120km accompanied by a intense barrage of golf ball hail and some larger jagged ones being blown into the windows.

Then we entered the ‘eye’ for a-few minutes with just rain, then the rear of the notch came back over with golf ball hail again and gale force north westerly winds. Storm had that layered pancake look on approach with aqua green - apparently Quakers Hill got tennis balls.

Same here, all I have to show is a few mm from decaying cells that passed overhead.

Getting some nice rain here now. Not particularly heavy and certainly no hail or flash bang.
10 mins worth.
Skies look ominous though, although clearer to the west and geez, while I was typing this, the sun just came out. The radar concurs.

Heard the thunder from that storm when browsing in IKEA Tempe.
Checked the radar, and hightailed out of there to try and get the car out in the open to see the storm from the car. As opposed to leaving it in the safety of the underground car park.
Managed to park in an Arncliffe side street just before the torrential rain and small hail started. Heaviest rain and duration of hail I've been in for a long time.
Wind switched direction about 120 degrees during the storm from North to a more Southerly.

And, since typing this, I've had some torrential rain and a few flash bangs. Better late than never.

Fantastic photos mate. @Gleno71
This one in particular was exactly what I saw when driving past Oakhill College this afternoon on my way home from work. I regretted not stopping and taking a photo because the lookout from there towards the Blue Mountains is quite incredible.
Albeit, I saw it from a distance further than your photo, but the vista at the time of the wide area of the Blue Mountains was insane.
I was also driving through a school zone. I had too much to concentrate on while driving!!
Thanks for uploading such amazing photos!!

This has been one weird series of storms

Not only that, but today was one of those days when you look up into the sky and the clouds are doing weird stuff.
You can actually see the formation, uprising and circulation in real time.
Also, clouds forming and going in different directions. East to west and west to east.
It was a fascinating afternoon and evening of weather watching.

At an approximate guess ~800 strikes in the Sydney basin today.

RE: Tomorrow, there's some TS potential there, but I am not seeing the severity of today. Might see some TS cells early arvo IMO.
Sun will be out earlier, with a more cleared-out start to the day.

Does that include cloud to cloud lightning as well?

Blowing a westerly gale here this morning, never would have expected that. At least it's nice and sunny but probably not for long.
