There is a lot of excitment about early openings but there is no snow making on the Supertrail? Normally when does the Supertrail open?

There was certainly snowmaking on supertrail last night. You could see the guns going this morning. IMO it will be open next weekend.

Thanks for the info, the Lower Supertrail Cam looked very bare.

Which supertrail are you talking about? High Noon is normally opened before the other, and from the thredbo cams on their website, there looks to have been a fair bit of snow making up there

There is snowmaking on the lower super trail as can be seen by the guns:

However most resorts don't have the air pressure to run 100% of their guns at any one time so they prioritise the areas they want open first.

In recent years Thredbo has prioritised Merrits and Friday flat as equal first, then High Noon super trail as it links those 3 areas together. Then the main supertrail next.

Good info on the air pressure, I didn't know it was a limitation.

Snowmaking capacity is limited by air in marginal temps and water in perfect conditions.

Marginal temps can use an air water ratio of 200 to 1 and 50 to 1 in perfect cold weather.

    LOL open for grass skiing.

To reinforce the earlier posts, they concentrate on getting the FF/HN/Merritts side of the mountain first. That's where the money is - first and second timers. Give them reasonably skiable conditions and they might come back next year.

For the first time in a fortnight there was some good snowmaking on the upper Supertrail last night. Fingers crossed that the inversion has ended.
