Hi. I was just told about this service (the unaccompanied luggage transfer that you can arrange between cities). We are a family of 4 planning an Jan 2020 trip. We are planning to arrive in Osaka and stay 6 nights before heading to Niseko. Thus, this idea of having all the ski "stuff" for 4 people make its way from Osaka to Niseko without us/in advance is quite appealing. The posts on this service that I could find were quite old. Anyone have any recent advice/experience to share? I'm especially interested in finding out the options in terms of sending the ski luggage right from Osaka airport vs. sending from our Osaka hotel which we haven't booked yet. Also, if our Niseko accommodations won't hold the luggage for us, do we have any options?

    Thank you.

Have you booked your Niseko accom yet?
Most will have it in your room for your arrival.

6 days is an excellent number for takkyibin from Osaka - 3 days would probably do it but 6 gives leeway for backlog, closed airports and blocked roads. It’d be a complete shock if your bags weren’t waiting for you.

Airport takkyubin is even easier to organise than from your hotel - there will be an office in the airport, and as long as you’re arriving during their business hours it will be effortless.

Just have the address of your destination saved and printed or in your phone. Maybe even have it in Japanese as well as English, and let the Niseko recipient know it’s coming.

IIRC the black cat office is just after you exit immigration etc and on the right at KIX?
Not sure but it won't be far

Osaka is a great spot for a few days! Sport eating capital!

From memory, at both ends of the terminal outside arrivals.

JAL ABC is down at the southern end.

Did it from my hotel in Tokyo a few months ago. Just ask the hotel desk on Osaka to organise it. Black cat is a nationwide service.

Thanks! in the process of booking Niseko accom - should hear back overnight.

If our plane is relatively on time, it appears they will be open - otherwise I guess we will just arrange from Osaka hotel. This is such an amazing idea/service.

One of the strongest memories I have of my time in Osaka is food - unfortunately, it's not a memory of lovely streetside takoyaki or other Osakan specialities, but of Eggs n Things!

    Question,
If I arrive at about 5pm at Narita on a Sunday and I throw my Ski/Snowboard bag on Black Cat, is it likely to be at Nozawa by Lunch-mid afternoon on the Tuesday??

All things being equal, yes. But if there's some very bad weather around, maybe not.
