Today saw one in a red and black jacket and another in darker colours with XC poles.

How 'bout free heelers stop and say hello.

We're not a dying breed; just a trying breed ;-)

I ski in a white helmet, grey jacket and black pants. And with red boots.

It'd be cool to do a few runs together; swap tales and compare gear. A bunch of us got together a couple of weeks ago at Hotham and had a hoot.

Hully, haven't come across you yet but I've been away for a bit.

Anyone interested in setting up a hook-up time, post here.

    Hi Ziggy.

Always good to see some other teleheads on the hill, of all standards and styles, and I usually offer a nod or a comment in the lift line. Even saw a fairly large group getting a lesson on Ruined Castle a few weeks ago...more converting to the art [IMG]

Not sure if I'll be down to FC again this season though (Canberra based), but I managed to get a few weekends down there and the last full week of August - great conditions for trying some new things...t'was fun [IMG]

    Hey Rolo,

    Thanks for posting.

Yeah, it's been a great season on the groomers.

I do the nod thing too and start up a convo if folk look receptive.

Also came across Hully and had a tele chat. Great to meet the Sweetwater Brewing supremo.

My wife and I will be up at Falls Creek this weekend (sep 15/16).

she wears a yellow jacket and is skiing on Fischer S-bound 98 skis.
i will probably be in a blue (and grey ?) jacket skiing on some atomic rainier skis. i wear a black helmet.

since we are beginners try not to laugh too hard at us!
and we always welcome tips and suggestions.

oh, and we ski the green and blue runs with varying success...

I have been a beginner telemarker for what seems like all my life, still can't get the hang of it! I got a few tips this year from an old hand and I am getting closer, must take lessons next year. I used the lifts at Falls this year on two occasions and usually ended up doing some half assed snow plough/ stem type of turns, got down ok but not in good style. Question is, if I am free heeling but not quite teleing, will you still wave to me? Have a great weekend, I wish I was coming up too.

Be good to catch up SF. Thanks for posting.

Expect to be up on Sat. with my brother who'll be alpining. If the forecast changes, we'll be looking at Sun.

We'll be hanging out on green and blue too. I specialise in varying success ;-)

It'd be a pleasure to do a few runs with you.

I'll be in red boots and white helmet. White beard.

Will PM you my mobile no. Ring me when you're up ... it's easy to miss folks.

    Any other telemarkers interested?

    It's looking promising snow-wise.

    Cool.

Met up with Skifool and partner this morning.

Conditions were pretty good but we quit at lunchtime (my bro was on skis for the first time in 25 years and feeling it).

Was a pleasure to chat SkiFool.

I'm usually open to whatever but had my bro with me on Sat.

Whatever = a few slides, b.s. about gear and technique over a coffee; swap skis etc.

Do you think a trip up next weekend would be worthwhile? They are forecasting 28C next Thursday.

At a guess it'll be a matter of some walking to gain alt or to get to south facing slopes. Haven't been out BC properly for a couple of weeks now. The BHP road to the Nelse Rd is still being groomed. The trail on Heathy Spur up high looked OK from the resort on Thurs.

We've had 15mm of rain since 9am y/day; that should've turned to snow showers sometime during the night and there'll be more today. There was a good freeze o/n.

Walked up to the resort today; still good spring snow for tele-turning. But some of it is being ripped up (presumably to clear vehicle tracks) and the Mackay road tho closed has been cleared (how far I can't say; at a guess to Ruined Castle at least).
