Saturday - Sunday next week at resort level will be interesting. Might be a full reset if the temps stay high and it r**ns.

I'v often wondered why PB and TB don't cover Front Valley and Fri Flat respectively with something like they have at Tennis or Cricket grounds. I know it would be big, but stopping warm rain has gotta be worth it, especially in the marginal altitudes

Not liking end of next week forecast for start of Winter in Canberra. 17 is ridiculous for June here when normal is around 12. Hope thats not the start of a warm June........8 for Perisher for winter is insanely hot and not even below freezing at night. Not like.

The guns are currently on in Perisher FV. Looks like plenty of snow making opportunities this week IMO.

However, could be a complete reset next weekend with warm temps and r**n.

Last June Perisher had 8 days in double figures up to 14.3 and only 1 max below 0. Looks pretty normal to me.

BOM always misses PV max temps and it very rarely has a zero or lower max at anytime of the year. The max temp may only be for half hour

I've noticed that actually. Often BOM says a top of 2 or something for PV but you sure as hell know cause you were there all day that it didn't get above -1.

Why are we calling June 1 the start of winter. IMO it starts about the 21st of June, inline with the northern hemisphere start of summer. Historical records show this as well with mean temps and snow depths. Winter will get here, it always dose regardless of the previous seasons.

R*** this coming weekend should not undo too much of the coming week's snowmaking and will actually help make it denser once it re freezes and form a better base. It's still early so nothing too much to worry about.
Just keep praying the waters in the Bight get cooler.

That chart is a day early but it's right at the end of the model range (that I have access to). Plenty of cold air in that system, if it gets to the mountains.

    But wait there is more.

Wandering Cool pool this week will deliver something interesting by the weekend. IMO. Even wet sage, will be uesfully above 1900 m.

Its still only 30th May. Still Autumn.:froth: .

They can deliver these wandering cool pools, just not much south of 1800 m IMO. Sometimes Perisher gets a snow shower from the NE.

    Not all that disappointing.
Will be nice to have some light winds and sunny days after what feels like a month of strong Nw-W winds.

Snow season starts July (I wont be up until August), so it can hold up for a few more weeks.

All this preseason natural and snow making is just for opening weekend/preseason marketing anyway.

So really Australia has 2 months of decent skiing a year? I usually get down in June for some cheaper accom and don't really mind if its pretty much snow making only to get some practice in before the real skiing starts later in July. Surely we can manage some snow making before season opening? I thought winter had started this past weekend here in Canberra but 17 next weekend and 8 degrees overnight is definitely not winter. Its warmer than May average even :(
