....and another 9mm overnight. It certainly has changed the valley, even the little drainage line that runs across our property has started flowing again.

It's not as massive as the one we just had, but it's a sign of more weather, which i'll take any day.

The charts are actually worth looking at these days, I reckon there was a period I could go a week and not miss anything earlier this summer.

By earlier this summer you mean December to March yeah? Actually that's being kind, it really stopped with the 'weather' in Melbourne some time in September.

Doesn't look like its going to penetrate the mainland very much , you guys way down south might get a little bit from it.
There looks to be more promising action during the first week of April , a long way off I know but I am an optimistic sort of guy.
On a separate theme , overnight min temps here are starting get pretty close to dew point fairly regularly.

7 degrees this morning in Canberra when I got up and its now a nice mid morning autumn temp of 15 at 11am. It feels like there could be a winter with some snow in the not too distant future. So glad to see these kind of temps instead of 30+ day after day........

I saw a raindrop on Driday.

Unfortnunately it evaporated before it hit the ground.

I find it alarming how little people in Perf seem to care about their lack of rainfall and dropping dam levels. You cant keep on sucking up aquifers forever.

very little of the scheme water supplying my house is from an aquifier, its mostly dam water.

but yes, the ration between scheme water and population gets smaller all the time.

the desal plant has proven to work well, if expensive.

A large percentage of our properties is still the old quarter acre block.

As development continues and blacks get smaller, plus articial grass gets better and cheaper, I'm hoping we will see far better use of the water.

It still dismays me how much reticulated water I see running down the streets

Lovely day in Canberra. Just back from a dusk run up some local hills. Had a nice Autumn feel to it . Probably should make it more frequent now that we are getting closer to the mega season ahead

To put it in more context - the Wolgan area is in a rainshadow. The agonisingly hot conditions of summer in the upper Blue Mountains have changed to cold drizzle and wetness over the past couple of days, a bit more like autumn. This made the warmer drier Wolgan valley an appealing destination to go swimming today - too hot in summer, but perfect today.

    Has been a funny summer.
Not as many N/Ne all dayers, no real stationary highs -the few we did have had troughs and unstable goings on.
Seems like a lot of the time we went from ese around to nw with only occasional true offshores for the mornington peninsula/woolamai beaches.
Way more easterlies this summer than usual, not just the se seabreeze
    Rambling post is rambling

How is this system looking now? I'm due to sail Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania on Monday, curious if I need to brace myself for a rough crossing!

    Steadily weaker by the run.
Perhaps a little in it in the south Sunday or Monday (depending upon the model), but I'm not expecting much now.

Perth maxed at an unpleasant 33.4 yesterday and it was quite humid.

Good news is we've got some rain/storms forecast for thursday/friday and temps are trending to 23/24 by the weekend.

    Hopefully the back is broken
